Holiday Party Planning!

Okay, crew!  It's that time of year again!  No, not time to overhaul the warp core and decontaminate the science labs.  No, it's time for the annual Holiday Party!

Last year's party was epic, with 24 attendees (seriously, how the hell did we fit everyone into the Captain's Quarters?), a gift exchange, fantastic food, and a good time had by all.  ( Read more... )

I would be willing to try ice skating, though I might fall on my ass. *is clumsy*

But, yay party!

It's okay, we have all levels of skating capability on this ship, and as long as you give it a go and have fun, it's all good! :D

So glad you're coming back for more parties!

In the event that this lands on a weekend I can attend, I'd be renting a car -- again. Anyone in Iowa is welcome to catch a ride.

ZOMG the Iowa contingent! The USS Biscotti sails again! I hope everyone can make it.

(Also, even if the party is not AT my house, I offer sleeping space as needed.)

Or if it falls on a weekend when I can come, Iowans are welcome to ride with me. My new car really only seats 4 now, though. (Technically 5, but I wouldn't want to be in the middle in the back.)

A note: I absolutely won't be able to attend if the majority choose Dec 18 or 19 or Dec 31. I have Longest Night, Gaia's Yule ritual, and a NYE party at Der Fractalhaus (I think they are putting one on. . .).

Assuming it lands on a weekend I can come, I will bring pumpkin pie, as I never get tired of pumpkin pie. :) Also, I just learned how to make my own whipped cream!

So far, we only have one vote apiece for the 18th and 19th, and the 31st, so I'm going to guess you're safe. I wanted to make all options available, but at the moment, it's looking good.

YAY PIE!

I know. But you know me and my polls/planning. I've got to be democratic and fair, and make the date for the party when the most people can go. But so far, none of those dates are anywhere near the lead in the poll, so I think we're safe for Longest Night and New Year's Eve.

Er... party at Der Fractalhaus? :D

Do people like MST3K/Rifftrax? Because we should definitely hook some of that up. I have quite a few Star Trek Rifftrax already and I can get more.

For food, I'd be driving 3 hours, so I'd more want to buy something there, or bring something like cookies.

And it's all dependent on weather. Sorry, I'm a huge baby about driving through snow and ice.

If you're driving that far, don't worry about bringing anything fancy. Hell, we'll probably need stuff like bags of chips and bottles of soda, too... so there's plenty of stuff you could bring or buy here in town that would be essential to the party. Don't even worry about it. I'll just be delighted if you can make it! And I predict that the weather will be just fine. :D

Aaaand... I'll bet MST3K stuff would be brilliant for the party. I say go for it!

Hey, this all sounds great but FYI-- the 11th and 12th are the exact weekend we finally have the end of semester. On the off chance we're even alive then (doubtful), we're going to be in Wichita for the Thunder-Oilers hockey game! So, if the party is on one of those days...probably can't host it. Um. So yeah.

Right now, January 8th is in the lead by a small but decent margin. Would you be able to host that day? Or at least attend?

I don't think it'll end up being the 11th or 12th, to be honest, based on projections. However, I CAN handle hosting EITHER on the weekend of the 11th/12th of December, or on the 8th of January. So if you can't, I can still cover it.

In the meantime, you focus on finishing your semester, enjoy the hockey game, and everything else will work itself out. I just really hope everyone can make it, but as real life goes, there's no perfect day that will work for everyone. *sigh*

Oh yeah, any day but those is fine for us!

Yeah, I'd love to see as many people as possible come. Unfortunately, there will always be scheduling conflicts! I'm looking forward to it whenever it happens, and however many people can come.

Okay, because you didn't include any days but the 18th and 19th for when you CAN come when you answered the poll. So that means my totals are incorrect on the votes. I'll need to add you and Kathlyn for all the other possible days except the weekend of the 11th/12th of January then, right? You'd be able to attend/host the party on January 8th? Because right now, even without your vote, it's ahead by two votes over the next closest... and I haven't voted yet.
