The humans did not like her. She knew that and they knew that she knew. It was not as if they were trying to hide it, however, Annaliese stayed in her corner of the lobby, huddled up in a chair with her arms tightly wrapped around her legs. Her olive eyes gazed over her knees, watching the humans work, converse, or glare back at her if their eyes met. Looking away quickly her gaze dropped down to the titled floor.
"They're just not used to you yet," a familiar masculine voice stated from beside her. Her eyes closed for a moment knowing exactly who it was, the leader of this group and a childhood friend. When he spotted her wandering the streets at night he just could not bring himself to kill her. She had to be the same Anna that he knew from all those years ago. She seemed frightened when the others moved to capture her, but it was not like she could scream. Even as a vampire she still had no voice.
Looking up at Mike she gave him an expression that said 'yeah right' which caused him to smile broadly. He had been right about her being the same. His blue eyes looked her over, her small body looked more frail than usual. Her eyes held dark circles beneath them as if she had not slept or eaten in days.
"Have you eaten?" he asked her, worry lacing his tone. Of course she had not. He knew the answer to his own question even before she shook her head to say no.
"Come with me." Remembering not to grab her hand he simply nodded towards the elevator. Hesitantly she followed after him. Waiting a short time for the 'ding' to announce the arrival of the elevator the doors finally opened and Mike hit the button for the fourth floor where his suite was located. Anna wanted to ask what he was doing, where they were going but he was too focused on unlocking the door to get his attention. Opening the door he let her in first and closed it behind him before speaking.
"I want you to drink from me," he stated, expecting her to shake her head no, which she did. But she was now staring at the veins in his neck and he knew that he would win out over her. "You need to keep up your strength. Come here," he added softly, coaxing her to him with a gesture of his hand. Blinking, Anna did not move from her position for a moment before taking a few steps closer to him. Guiding her over to the couch to sit he took a breath before continuing. "Look, I'm willing. I know you won't take more than you need." A long pause settled between them until Anna sighed as if to say 'Okay'. Mike's heart rate picked up at her acceptance yet he tried to keep his expression neutral. The thought of Anna's lips on his skin, sucking at his neck was more attractive than it should be.
He was taken out of his day dream when he felt a pinch to his wrist, bringing his gaze down to it. Anna was drinking from his arm. It was not as exciting as his thoughts had been, but his heart was still racing all the same. A sort of calm ran over him as she continued to drink, his eyes getting heavy until the lids closed and thinks went dark.
