Nice weekend

Our first potential hurricane of the season is on the way--hopefully the last as well.  Maybe we'll get to go home early or even get a day off from work.  I just hope they don't wait until it's too bad before they let us go home.  All schools are open tomorrow so it won't be until Tues or Wed.  If the models are right, we are headed for a direct hit.  Either way, we will get plenty of rain and wind.

We had a good little road trip on Saturday.  The twins wanted to do something together for their birthday so this was an inexpensive way to do so given that gas prices have finally gone down a little.  We headed up to Cedar Key with next to no idea of how to get there.  We got sort of lost a few times and it took us twice as long to get there but we saw a lot of rolling hills, horse farms and other parts of Florida we see very little of living so close to Tampa.   We saw a wild turkey, plenty of wild boars with lots of little wild baby piggies.   We went through Rosewood which has it's own horrible story attached to it during the 1920's.  If you get a chance to see the movie of the same title I highly recommend it.   When we finally got to Cedar Key there was a beautiful flame point Siamese kitty who would not leave us alone.  He was a stray but I guess he could tell we were cat people.  Out in the water, not far at all from shore was a dolphin who was putting on a little show for us until a boater went out and started following him around.  We tried to get a picture but by the time we got the camera out the boater was harassing him.  We did get a few pictures of pelicans.  Also, pictures of the lower Suwanee River and a nice sunset which I'll post a little later.  We also saw a Florida Panther on the way home while we were out in the middle of no where.  He was have in the road right in front of us and the size of a large Beagle.  What a beautiful cat!  Of course, he was camera shy as well and off into the woods before we could get a picture.  I have never seen one before but one of my daughters did a few months ago and he only about 6 miles from our home.  It shows how progress is pushing the poor little guys out of their natural habitat.
