Quarterly Report

Mar 31, 2009 09:03

As a business manager, quarterly reports are a thing of process. But I got to thinking, at the end of this 1st quarter of 09, that it isn't such a bad idea in all manner of things. Do a double-check of the To Do List, for one. And, let everyone who reads here know what's up right now in this writer's life, especially since she's so bad about doing it on a regular basis :)

March is our busy season at the day-job, so I'm severely behind in everything else, e-mails and creative writing most especially. I've managed to learn how to write in small blocks of time if I want to get any of it done at all.

REINS OF TIME is due for it's first quarterly report. I'm not as good at selling the thing as I was at writing it *g* so I don't expect huge sales. I had to re-submit book two, WEBS OF PARADOX, because the first submission got lost in the shuffle, somewhere....  Meanwhile, I'm polishing MAGE A TROIS, and having great fun with that one, as well as steaming at myself over the lack of time to finish the rough draft of TALLOMAJ--that one's tough. Sometime within the next few months, a new writer's group is going to start up in town, and I'll be taking my completed MISTS OF RAHONE to that one for polishing.

Stories need the imput of other people in order to shine. Several years back, when I wrote RANDLEON THE GREAT, I picked up a test reader who adores that sword & sorcery tale, and doesn't seem to mind that it's lose relative MAGE A TROIS, set 1000 years later, decided to be a whole lot more erotic than its predecessor. --LOL  Seems she can't get enough of it, so that will be the next book I submit, though to which publisher, I've yet to determine.

Back when I was writing RANDLEON THE GREAT, I read a lot of David Gemmell's stuff, so that story is in a similar vein. Now I've discovered a niche literary market for supplemental reading in support of MAGE A TROIS. Hmmm, I do say, I'm hooked! :) Ah, that story is such fun to write. Unlike TALLOMAJ, an alternate history which has me stretched thin because it requires such depth of research. That one's not fun to write, but the test readers who've seen the first chapters are adequately impressed, or so they tell me :)

I love getting feedback. Though I've been told I still need more description, more description! Ah! I've also been told by most of my readers that my stories are "unique", and "a pleasure to read, since they do lead in unexpected directions". Feedback like that keeps me writing, even though the day-job is currently eating me alive.

I've a hope that I can take a week off in May, and get the rough draft of TALLOMAJ finished. But with my history, I'll probably start playing with SANDSTORM again. That's the next realative of my GHOST MAGE series, set 1000 years after MAGE A TROIS. Don't know quite how I got into erotica, but hey, it's a blast to write --LOL

I've been doing a ton of reading, but am far behind in my reviews. Hey, if more people vistied my review blog, I might be more inclined to post there :)  But I do post reviews on my blog at least once a month, sometimes more often. And I'd love to have feedback over there too, if anyone is interested.
