My one true passion

Hardback or Paperback? If I thought the cost wasn't outrageous, Hardback.

Highlight or Underline? Star beside the line, notes in the margin.

Lewis or Tolkien? Both.

E.B. White or A.A. Milne? Both. But my first favourite book was The Trumpet of the Swan, so perhaps White.

T.S. Eliot or e.e. cummings? e.e. cummings

Stephen King or Dean Koontz? Eww. Neither.

Barnes & Noble or Borders? Neither? As I don't live in the US, my choice is Waterstone's or Books etc., depending on where I'm shopping. Or secondhand bookshops.

Waldenbooks or B. Dalton? Never heard of either.

Fantasy or Science Fiction? Fantasy, I suppose. But I don't normally read either genre.

Horror or Suspense? Suspense. See above.

Bookmark or Dogear? Bookmark. Absolutely. If I see someone dogear my book or lay it upside-down to keep a page, I will murder. Ask my mum for proof, as she has been forcibly taught....

Hemingway or Faulkner? Hemingway.

Fitzgerald or Steinbeck? Tie?? I dunno. I'm not too fond of either.

Homer or Plato? Plato, only because I can never get through any of Homer's work.

Geoffrey Chaucer or Edmund Spenser? Chaucer, most definitely.

Pen or Pencil? If we're talking about writing in books, then pencil usually (unless I only have a pen). For all other writing I prefer a fountain pen.

Looseleaf or Notepad? Notepad.

Alphabetize: By author, and either alphabetical within author or in series order.

Dustjacket: Remove while reading and replace.

Novella or Epic?: Epic. I truly detest short stories and novellas.

John Grisham or Scott Turow?: Never Grisham... But who is Turow?

J.K. Rowling or Lemony Snicket?: JKR obviously. I made one attempt at LS found it patronising & irritating.

John Irving or John Updike?: Irving! I'm just finishing A Prayer for Owen Meany!

Fiction or Non-fiction?: Both, but usually fiction.

Historical Biography or Historical Romance?: Depends on my mood. Sometimes one needs a mental break, and thus, turns to historical romance.

A Few Pages per Sitting or Finish at Least a Chapter?: Finish at least a chapter. But if it's a fluff book, then it's finished in one sitting.

Short Story or Creative Non-fiction Essay?: Creative Non-Fiction Essay. See my comment on short stories above.

"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?: "It was a dark and stormy night" HEE! I love my Snoopy!

Buy or Borrow?: Buy. Always.

Book Reviews or Word of Mouth? Both. I usually read classics rather than modern fiction, but I do have a look at the comments on amazon when making decisions.
