Public Speaking Sucks

Apr 25, 2006 22:05

I have a majorly big presentation tomorrow at work. Make that two majorly big presentations at work tomorrow. I'm a bit tweaked about them, but I'm sure it won't be a huge deal once I get started. I'll just be glad when tomorrow is over though.

Basically, I have to present our registration site to half the customer service department in the morning & then repeat it for the other half in the afternoon. Probably about 20 people in each session. I'll have to walk them through the registration website which I've barely gotten to play with too. I'm a little nervous, but I'll live. I just feel less than prepared for this considering that I was out of town all last week. And Nancy has definitely made it clear that this is my presentation & she'll just be there to watch & maybe throw in a comment or two. Eep. I'm sure I'll feel better after we get started.

Anyways! In other news, this past month has been a flurry of travel for me. I've been to Boston, Houston, & DC within 3 weeks. It was fun, but I'm really glad it's over. I'm ready to be home & stay home for awhile. Although I did have a great time while I was traveling. I even got to meet up with my cousin, Dallas in DC. He's going to Georgetown University & totally impressed me with his motivation. I don't know how he does it, but I'm sure that it'll all pay off for him. That boy's totally going to make something of himself. Got to see a lot of amazing sights while I was out & about too.

Ummmm...other stuff... We got Tivo, which completely rocks my socks off. Thanks to the lovely Tivo, I've been watching a few new shows & making sure not to miss my favorites. I've really been getting into Invasion & I've been watching some music videos & some Amazing Race too. Tivo will come in very handy for the next few months. Patrick is starting a different shift at work: noon til 9pm. It should be an interesting adjustment for awhile, but we'll do alright. I'm actually looking forward to some "me-time". I've got some big plans - we'll see how long they last! Major goals: get back in shape, eat better, learn WarMachine & Hordes better, keep the apartment clean, and in general Kimbee stuff. Huzzah!

Speaking of WarMachine & Hordes, I'm really happy with it at the moment. I think the break earlier this year was just what I needed. I'm still not great at it, but that's okay. It's just really cool to feel like part of the community. I feel like I'm not outside looking in like I was with MageKnight. I even suggested that we drive up to Madison this weekend for their Hordes release tourney. It ended up that just Patrick & I went - that was kind of nice. And it was really good to see the guys from Wisconsin again. They're really fun to hang out with. I had a really bad losing streak going this weekend though. I must have played 6 games on Saturday & lost all of them, then we drove up to Madison & I played 4 more games & only won the last one. I was getting worried that I was going to end up winning the helmet award! But instead I won sportsmanship with enough votes to be uncontested. That's what happens when you lose with a smile on your face & a good attitude about the whole thing. Ended up winning the hardcover signed copy of the Hordes rulebook. That made my day. Our next tourney is on the 13th, so some of the guys from Wisconsin are coming down to play on our turf this time. It'll be a fun time, maybe I'll even get to practice a little before then.

Anyways, enough of an update for now. Keep your fingers crossed for me tomorrow! Here's hoping that I do okay on the presentations...
