Well, we're back! Safe & sound - well, safe more than sound. It was a very long two weeks for me. By the time Wednesday rolled around, I was ready to head home. But we did have a great time.
I was down there for a week before Patrick joined me. Work was horrible: long hours, sore feet, hating people...but it was worth it becuase the show was a huge success. And it didn't help matters any that I'm a huge klutz & tripped on the sidewalk on Tuesday. I banged myself up pretty badly. Everyone was saying that I was lucky I didn't break something. I still have remnants of the bruise on my upper arm almost two weeks later. Anyways, besides that I think I broke one of my toes walking around in those stupid girly shoes at the show. I have a bone sticking out where it shouldn't. And it pops everytime I curl my toes under. It could have happened before this, but I just noticed it a few days ago.
Then Patrick came down to join me! Hooray!!! Let the honeymoon begin!!! *this part edited out for your poor virgin eyes* We had a great time - we went to Universal Studios on Saturday. Went on almost everything that we wanted to, but then the Mummy ride broke down when we were almost through the line! And Earthquake broke down right after that, so we called it a day. My favorite thing there was Twister - it was amazing. I've been through a tornado before & they totally did justice to the experience. It even smelled like a tornado.
Anyways, after we left Universal, it was still early - so, we gave Rasty a call. We decided why not meet up while we were in town. It made for some awkward moments once I found out that they had been more than friends in the past, but it ended up being fun. We ended up drinking enough that Patrick was nice & hung over in the morning, so we decided to make Sunday an easy going day & hung out with Rasty again. We played a couple of games of Pirate's Cove mini golf & played some Chez Geek. Oh! And we went to the Ripley's museum. Good times. It was nice hanging out, but at that point I wanted some more alone time *wink wink* for the honeymoon.
Monday, we went to Magic Kingdom. It was quite magical. Best park at Disney in my opinion. We went on almost all the rides. There were no lines, so we had plenty of time. I'm not sure I have a favorite there, but we definitely have some memories!
"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow...." sing along everyone!
Teacups - "Spin faster faster! Oh god no more spinning! More spinning!"
"Yo ho ho ho - Dead Kimbee's tell no tales!"
And we got to see the fireworks that night. Patrick reminded me that he owed me some fireworks after we spent July 4th packing up his MageKnight stuff & missed out. I had totally forgotten about that. It was really sweet.
Then Tuesday, we went to MGM. MGM sucked. We weren't impressed. We went on Rockin' Rollercoaster first, it was insane! Patrick's first upside down ride & I don't think he's the same yet. I think the upside down spin killed his back. So, we took it easy for the rest of the trip. Neither of us are man enough to go on Tower of Terror, so we went to see some of the shows. Muppet 3D was alright...and a fight almost broke out outside of it. I was hoping to see punches thrown, but it didn't happen. Bummer. We gave up on MGM after Drew Carrey's flop of a show.
We headed over to Epcot to salvage our Disney magic, cause it was wearing off after MGM. We went through the World Showcase & had some food. Then we checked out some of the rides. Epcot was pretty cool - we went on some of the educational rides. Saw Disney's hydroponics labs & stuff & rode on the ride in the Epcot globe. And best thing there was the Soarin' ride. Although it kind of scared me cause heights scare me, I'd totally recommend it. It was threatening to rain, so we ran to catch the shuttle back to the hotel. Then we went back to the hotel & went to the pool & hot tub. And I still can't hear out of my right ear because I got water clogged at the pool that night!
Wednesday was spent being lazy all morning until it was time to go to Cirque du Soleil. We were planning to go to Typhoon Lagoon at Disney, but we were too lazy, plus my ear was still clogged. Cirque du Soleil was amazing. It's hard to describe, but I'm really glad that we got to go. I just wish I had been able to hear out of both ears. Luckily, it didn't matter too much.
Thursday...we had pretty much had it with vacation & were ready to head home. We still had two days at Universal & one day at Disney available, but we couldn't bring ourselves to go. We also had planned to take a drive to the beach, but were too lazy. We were both so beat up by the week that we laid in bed & around the hotel room until around 5pm. We had planned on going to WonderWorks (this upside down hands-on exhibit), but we watched the news & it was on TV with about a zillion teachers & kids...so we went to plan B. Plan B was to walk around until we found a bowling alley. At which point, we sucked badly & had a couple of beers. We went back outside & it was raining, so we walked to the World's Biggest McDonald's & had some food & wandered around the playplace.
I think we had the perfect time. We had enough alone time & we had some company. And we were kept pretty busy, but we also had a couple of days where we were completely lazy & just snuggled. I couldn't have asked for a better time. Both of us are a little worse for the wear, but I think that's a sign of a good honeymoon. It was just so nice not to have to think about anything remotely responsible for that long. And I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday, so I'll (hopefully) be able to hear again!
It's good to be back home. Orlando was fun to visit, but we both agreed that we wouldn't want to live there.
