I just accidentally posted this in nostalgia_lj's lj, because I'm a mong and she left herself logged in on my computer. So. Cut it from there and reposting in my own lj. Why does stuff like this happen to me?

anyway...

had a mini-marathon of Buffy - first four eps of season 7. well.

Lessons

yay Giles! Giles so cool…
besuited Xander? um. right.
ok, so in my school they really weren’t keen on random people roaming the halls.
the hell of first-day-back. oh yes.
Buffy happening across the thing that matters. obviously.
Brunette Anya! which is so weird to be reminded of. oh, and Hallie’s such a bitch.
it is kinda Dawn-heavy.
and let’s give Buffy a job she’s totally not qualified for.
Kit was, I dunno… stereotypical. as was Carlos. joy.
oh, and if you dropped through the floor you’d be just fine
“I ran away like a girl” - uh, no offence intended, I'm sure.
they finally get cell-phones! faboo! and they overuse them in one ep!
“I’m the one who dates dead guys. And no offence, but they were hotties.”
insane Spike, with the hair, and the self-harm… Spike. Self-harm. Oh. My. God.
“four-year old could figure it” - snerk!
Buffy doing the pep-talk. go to hell, bitch. seriously, I have issues with counsellors, and I have issues with her, and the two put together are just my idea of hell.
all the cameos… oh yay… Mayor was cool, and oh my lovely Dru…
love JM.

Beneath You

truly excessive “previously on”
I would be worried why she knows about bastinadas.
Principal Wood is so pushing for info.
“you’re the one that keeps telling me to trust my instincts”
and of course it’s raining, it’s England
and Xander failing to hit on Nancy
they didn’t de-invite Spike again! they didn’t do it when he was actually evil. they did do it when he chained her up which did fuck-all.
I felt sad for him losing Dawn as a friend, but he did (apparently) ignore her when he got Buffy.
oh and we needed the fucking flashback.
then the X/S look at the "are there any of you that haven't slept together?"… yum.
and Anya pushing, and pushing
and then why the fuck does Buffy step in? Anya’s holding her own. and Spike hits back once. after that it’s all insults and innuendo.
and I felt sorry for Spike when he was yelling “help me” “lucky girl” “bring the wife and kiddies, come see the show!” very Old Testament prophesying
at least Buffy goes after him.
and then that long final scene. oh. my. god. truly beautiful scene. I adore the delivery on “Well, yes, where’ve you been all night?” which is just quintessential Spike. and the semi-religious aspects. and near the end it sounds like he's quoting. “He will be loved” just aches in my chest and… oh. wow. amazing.
smoke machine’s on a bit high, though.
love JM.

Same Time, Same Place

“my mouth saved the world!” and what a mouth it is.
Willow looks… too pathetic, really, at the airport
“you won’t mind? well then that’s no fun.” W/A! so evident in this ep.
the dual scene in the basement works fuck-off well.
“you need a special slip with a stamp” - petulance! “you did it once” - oh yeah, way to guilt Willow. reference to the flashback “gotta rhyme”. “her boy? I’m… her boy?” - uh, yeah!
love JM
“was it you?” “no!”
I like how matter of fact Dawn is about the demon - “it’s like his natural beverage” and the way she scares Xander - “you’re terrifying”
annoyance on my part - they’re being nasty to Spike
“I’m insane. What’s his excuse?”
and of course Buffy has compassion for Willow

Help

Oh god. Buffy counselling. Fucking painful. I just couldn’t watch. I really couldn’t.
rip me up… hate Buffy. hate her.
and Cassie. Blonde. Fucking blonde.
and the utilisation of Dawn. beautiful.
god, I do not wanna watch this.
“poems. always a sign of pretentious inner turmoil.”
“we all deal with death”
Willow posted fanfic! how cool?
abuse of power by going to the father, watch me stop watching.
trying again… the poetry is just too like me, seriously. had to see Spike, obviously.
love JM.
cleaver… mmm
stupid fucking schoolboys.
yeah, give the Spike fans the vaguely hopeful line from the prophetess that means absolutely fuck-all.
I liked that she dies in the end.
the weepy post-mortem bored me, though.

and I'm now reading "Once a Thief" slash despite... guess what? Never having seen the show. I do know that Vic is played by Nicholas Lea who plays Krycek, though, so I can at least image one. Not that I tend to image characters so much, which is odd. Hmm.

Remember I wanted Krycek/Spike? I haven't been actively looking - may do that later - but I did run across a piece with an OC "played" by James Marsters. Which is, y'know, a step in the right direction.

reading blah, reaction: buffy
