An update!
As we all know, I'm not a Valentine's Day person. As much as I am a romantic, I prefer my romance to come in non-prescribed times. So Mike and I are doing what we always do - we're cooking at home. I pulled some grass-fed fillets out of the freezer this morning, we're going to pick up some lobster tail at the farmers market this evening (hmm... where did the day go). We made the decision to not do gifts. I was going to get him something anyway, but decided not to since I didn't want to make him feel bad.
Today we spent some time doing some house cleaning. We need to make a nursery. Right now we have a guest bedroom and an office in our extra rooms. We need to combine the two and turn one into a nursery. But both closets are full. So we spent some time reorganizing stuff. Moved some laundry room stuff out to the garage, and now the suitcases that were in the office closet will go into the laundry room. I know, we know how to spend a Saturday! We are going to pick up the non-VOC paint chips at the hardware store and decide what color to paint the office.
Other than that, we've been busy, busy, busy. We're still making our decision on our bathroom remodel project. I'm sure that the designer and contractor are getting impatient with us, but that's just too bad. We had a granite picked out, but it didn't go with the tile and accent colors we liked. Now we have a new granite that works. and it works with the main tile, but not so much with the particular shade of our accent. After that, I think we should be able to get things started. Oh, and we also need to pick out light fixtures, cabinet hardware, etc. There are just too many decisions to make. Oh well. I'll be happy to get things going. We were shooting to have it done this month, but now we're half-way through February and no work has been started.
Of course, there are rumors of layoffs this month, but nothing is definite. We are going to wait until after the end of the month before committing a huge chunk of our savings to a remodel project. Some of the work HAS to be done, our master bathroom is not functional. So we figured we'd do the whole thing while we were at it.
