Since the cat is pretty much out of the bag....

I'll let you know about the blog I started in October:  http://storkpatrol.blogspot.com/.  I need to figure out how to get it to e-mail me some comments.  And I still need to figure out how to actually customize it beyond using templates.

Check it out.  Or don't.

W00T! Congratulations. Now I'm extra sorry we missed you on Sunday - but as you'll learn you don't mess with a toddler's nap schedule!

2 of the songs you mentioned for singing are regular "lullabyes" for us - Billy Joel for Lisa and Marley for me.

Lullaby by Billy Joel was actually the song a danced to with my dad at our wedding. It's pretty but it's actually about a father and daughter who don't see each other very often. Lyrics are tricky. When Davey was a newborn he loved when I sang Joy to the World to him but one day I made it to the second verse and realized how innapropriate it really was so I stopped.

We got most of ours from the Music Together classes since we started those when Davey was 2 months. I really recommend it (they usually have Saturday classes for working mommies and daddies).

From what I've heard, "Lullabye" is about a daughter asking her father about death, although it also has undertones regarding divorce. Lyrics are pretty easy to fix when singing to a kid. Kayleigh doesn't have to know that John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" isn't "Beautiful Girl" until she's older.

Lisa and Kayleigh both really enjoy the Music Together classes. The "Fiddle" CD has become a fixture in our player.

Good point. Changing lyrics is a must.

Thanks :-). And thanks for reading the other blog. I am open to other lullabies - 4 just isn't enough songs to sing. :-).

We'll have to catch up another time. I am guessing that our moms are going to get together and throw us a shower at some point, and Mike has already started pushing for a co-ed shower so he can join in the fun, so there will be other opportunities to congratulate us in person. And we're in NJ through Sunday, so we can potentially be found (although, I am purposely not making many plans this time around).
