Day four of my summer vacation...

Jun 30, 2008 20:52

...was pretty much like days one, two and three. My children staring slack-jawed at the television, playing Mario Brothers on the DS or watching You Tube on the computer, and sometimes all three at once. Thank god I'm not letting them take their computers to Canada with them. I can still get my emails on my Blackberry so as long as I'm taken care of that's all that matters right?

On any given day, I have a to-do list a mile long and by the end of any given day, I'd be extremely lucky to have accomplished even one thing. Unless of course I have to go on holiday in five days. So far, all the laundry is done, I've gotten a quote on carpet cleaning, arranged for the oriental rug to be taken away and cleaned, scheduled a small window repair, fridge repair, yard waste pick-up, eyelash tint, haircut and highlights, haircuts for the children, arranged a babysitter for Saturday (which turned into a sleepover go me!) done my LLBean order and painted my toenails. Not bad eh? I think that's more than I accomplished all of third term!

Except for this... I may have bragged about this before (too lazy to check) but one of the parents had the brilliant idea of having each kid in the school draw or write something on a quilt square for the retiring principal and I had one of those surreal slo-mo moments where my mouth opened and an offer to sew it all together came out before I could stop it. I don't know what the fuck I was thinking considering I've never made a quilt in my life. I needed it done on the Wednesday after the girls' birthday parties and was so wrapped up with those, I didn't start until the Sunday. Had a major panic attack and nearly destroyed my back but managed to get it done in 3 days and if I say so myself, it turned out ok. I have no idea how long it's all going to hold together.

I can't believe I've slogged my way through 3 seasons of Veronica Mars (it's on every day at 4 different times so it's possible to watch them all and still have a life) only to miss the final episode because it's going to be shown on Monday and I'm leaving for Canada on Sunday :-/ I can hardly wait just for the flight so I can read a book for 6 hours and have someone feed me.

I've not read anything lately..I have two easy reading fiction books sitting on my nighttable (Elizabeth George and Harlan Coben) begging for attention but I haven't opened either of them and won't until I can comfortably give one of them more than a few minutes here and there.

Well it's the witching hour and I'm starting to feel the signs of a cold coming on. This will simply not do....time for bed. ta.
