Another day "off"
Another 2-hour delay today because of the cold temps in the early morning, but with a twist this time. Because there was only supposed to be a half-day today anyway (teacher training in the afternoon), they just cancelled school altogether. My kids were in school all of two days this week, and Donny will only be in two days next week. (Both off for Presidents Day on Monday, then Kindergarten is cancelled on Thursday and Friday for parent/teacher conferences.)
February is always a light month as far as attendance goes -- there are a ton of scheduled days off -- but this is ridiculous!
On the plus side, it did allow Amy to go over to a new friend's house today. There is a sad lack of girls her age in our neighborhood, but now that she's in middle school, she's met a girl who attended another elementary school who lives only eight blocks away. I'd been hoping they'd be able to get together before summer, and Amy decided to call her up this morning to see if she was free to play. Talk about motivation -- it was all of 9 degrees outside, school was cancelled, yet Amy was happy to walk the 8 blocks to the girl's house. *g*
She's supposed to be home at 2 pm, since swim practice starts at 3:30 ... then Donny was invited to a classmate's birthday party at 6 pm. Even on snow days, I'm running all over town for these two!
On the plus side, my new modem arrived yesterday afternoon ... I'm back on broadband, woo hoo! :)
