Last night's wine tasting was fun. It was organised by a wine merchant with a couple of branches in London (which of course are currently closed to customers). We had two white wine and three red wine samples to try and a sheet to use when thinking about the aromas and taste. There were just over 30 of us on Zoom (mostly couples) and it was rather ( Read more... )

They are going to continue for the next couple of months online, and then might go back to only doing these in their branches which is a shame

I wonder if some of these Zoom things will continue in some form or another as I would have thought some businesses can reach more people online than they can in a physical branch. I realise with something like a wine tasting there is postage and things to consider, which might put paid to it, but a wider customer base must be a benefit. It will be interesting to see how much some of these temporary lockdown measure become part of our "normal" lives.

The WEA online courses have agreed that they will go back to the classrooms/halls but they will continue with courses online too. I’m very happy with that as it means there’s so much choice and I can still have courses with tutors who are far away. I imagine they’ve also realised it benefits anyone who is disabled and can’t get to their centres and that it fills up the courses across the country too.

It was good and very well managed for 90 minutes. We had the added task of illustrating each grape variety which was very silly but the little sketches/cartoons people came up with were fun.

Yay, I'm glad it was good fun at the wine tasting. I enjoyed it (and fed back to them that I'd do it online in future but probably not in person - though tbh the Waterloo branch is pretty accessible even though it's further from me!).

Was it #5 that you liked? It came top easily in my group!

Totally loved #5! Shame that at the moment they are only sending cases out as orders. Hopefully we will one day be able to visit the Waterloo branch too. I agree I hope they still do online events. It was really good to feel part of a group.

I've been ordering their mixed half cases since the summer. It's been a proper highlight of lockdown, and I really hope they keep doing those. In theory I can drop into the Tooting branch, but it's a pain after dark. I might still go back for #5 for a very special occasion!
