Sometimes it's hard to remember I live in the South East of England and you look out into the garden mid-January when it's a frosty start to Sunday and ring-necked parakeets are on the bird feeders....
The parakeets are always remarked upon by visitors as they are so exotic looking, but they are noisy and annoying most of the time and they can demolish a feeder full of peanuts in a couple of days. There's talk of culling them again in the Spring with some hawks as they did that a few years ago when they decimated some local crops, and it's probably for the best as the local flock is around 40-50 birds now!
You have a wonderful selection of birds! I think I get about half of those.
I had almost forgotten Burns Night, and we ate the haggis out of the freezer a couple of months ago. I will have to do it a few days late. I have never come across cranachan being made with shortbread crumbs - that would be easier than the traditional toasted oats, and probably even better :) I must try that sometime, too.

We are very near a lot of woodland so I think that’s why we get so many birds. Particularly the woodpeckers who all live in there.

Very cold here, but it's January. That's exceptionally cold for you, thought, isn't it?

It is still cold here, but no more snow thank goodness! It's about average, but not nice for walking.
