Saturday (244 or 15 days into the full lockdown)

Nov 21, 2020 16:02

Look at me posting two days in a row!

There was a thefridayfive and I missed it yesterday, so I have time this afternoon to do it now:

1. Have you started decorating for holidays yet or are you going to skip it this year?
I don't tend to put up decorations until around the second week of December because otherwise I find that everything gets too dusty and full of cat hair LOL! I will still decorate as I love decorating the house and I have even bought some new decorations to do so!  We can still feel festive even if it's just the two of us.

2. Will your gift buying be more local or online this year because of restrictions?
I have done most of my shopping already, and most of it had to be online as we are still in lockdown. I did get quite a few little presents back in September and October when the Christmassy stuff started to appear in the shops (!), and I do like to keep as local as possible usually. I missed going to the big London Christmas Fair I usually visit each year as of course it was cancelled, but I tracked down the cheese maker and the Christmas pudding maker I love and I've ordered online from them.
3. Will you be doing something ‘extra’ to try and give this year’s celebration a bit more sparkle?
Not really - there's only ever the two of us and the two boys for Christmas Day. I try and invite friends and neighbours over for a drink in the week before Christmas, but I don't know yet whether that will be possible.
4. No parties this year, but how are you reaching out to family and friends to wish them well?
I like to send Christmas cards anyway, so I'll do that and maybe write a bit more news in them than I might normally have done. I hope people do that so I know they are OK too.
5. Do you believe in Krampus?
I had to look that up - no. It's not a tradition in the UK anyway, but I didn't encourage my children to believe in Father Christmas, or the tooth fairy or anything that isn't real as I never believed in them.

This morning we had Swiss ball pilates which was it's usual challenging hour of getting VERY hot and sweaty LOL. We enjoyed it - it's a good workout and bouncing on a large exercise ball is so much like bouncing on a space hopper and neither of us had those when we were kids. So it makes us smile. That finished at 11am and we got changed and headed for a local garden centre food hall to get some of the locally milled flour for bread making.  The queues for the main part of the garden centre were ridiculous! I suppose as not much is open everyone is heading for the garden centres to buy gifts from their gift halls.

We had lunch when we got back and then I spent an hour or two cleaning the glass studio to make it easier to sort things out in there. The windows were filthy, so even they had a wash. Mr Cee cleaned out the fish tank while I did that and now he's up in the loft putting down more of the flooring up there. The people we bought the house from added more insulation to the loft (a good thing!), but it meant they took up all the flooring.  So over the past few years Mr Cee has been slowly adding more and more flooring so we can store things - it's a huge area as we are a bungalow, so a good place for tools and stuff.

Later we are having a take away delivered as we can and we're both craving chips and onion rings, and now Zero cat has sat on me I'm feeling very lazy :)

Just time to fit in a quick 365 question:

21 Would it disturb you much if, upon your death, your body were simply thrown into the woods and left to rot? Why?
It wouldn't disturb ME at all although it might traumatise someone who came across it! Mr Cee (or whoever is left to throw me!) might get arrested for "desecrating a corpse" as part of the definition for that crime is that the corpse might be eated by wildlife. I have already made my wishes for no funeral, and no fuss and bother very clear to my nearest and dearest. I'm taking a leaf out of David Bowie's book and asking to be cremated without any ceremony.

Well that wasn't the most cheerful question for a Saturday night LOL!
