So feel free to ignore moans under the cut as several things have annoyed me this week.
Drama Queen
I hate people who are Drama Queens - they are exhausting. One of our belly dance troupe is a Drama Queen and it's starting to get on my nerves. We have our own belly dance show in October, and there are four planned routines for our troupe. Our teacher asked us if we would like to dress in 'proper' belly dance clothing for two of them as you can get professional outfits for fairly reasonable prices on Ebay (good old Ebay). However, one of our troupe refused to wear the sparkly bikini (her words). I can understand someone not having the confidence to show as much skin as the outfit requires (I'm not that comfortable with the idea either tbh), but I ordered the two outfits and actually they are very flattering and rather gorgeous. It means she is not dancing two of the routines with us.
Since she made this decision, she has been quite snippy with us for going ahead with the choice of clothing which is annoying as we didn't go along with it to spite her (we are all quite excited about it!). So to try and make her less 'left out' we have decided to try and put together a surprise dance for our teacher at the show. We spent a couple of hours on Friday night going through some ideas and it was frustrating that our Drama Queen came with quite of lot of antagonism towards the idea - but we did eventually get her enthusiastic about it, and worked out some ideas. *sigh*
Inconsiderate drivers
There are a lot of road works around where I live which seems to have increased how many selfish drivers there are who will steam across a junction and block it because THEY want to get across and sod the rest of us. Or alternatively they won't use their indicator so I have no idea where they intend to go and then they block the way or dangerously cross in front of me unexpectedly! *sigh* The Leaf will actually brake for me when they get too close which is quite useful.
Pseudo-nutritional science
My bellydance/Pilates teacher seems to enjoy the latest fads regarding diet. I have no problem with her deciding that for herself, but she has a habit of advising people at my Pilates regarding vitamin supplements, detoxing your liver and reducing the acid in your organs. I think this is incredibly unprofessional as she is not qualified in nutrition or science (she does have a personal trainer certficate which covers anatomy). There are HUGE studies which have disproved the things she seems to believe in, and on Friday at Pilates I HAD to step in when she was advising a 70+ lady to take Potassium supplements as for someone of that age this can be incredibly dangerous. In fact when I asked the lady if she had any heart problems she said her doctor is worried she may be likely to have a heart attack. Potassium (if you don't have a deficiency - which is very rare), can cause
heart arrhythmia, so not something you should be taking if you have heart issues - particularly without the knowledge of your doctor! Wisely my teacher had nothing to say - I'm glad she didn't try and argue with me. *sigh*
Livejournal
I posted something on Facebook (I rarely do this) mentioning Tiger no longer being with me. A couple of friends I met on here years ago commented they didn't know he was no longer around. I had hoped that some people I used know well were still reading here. Evidently not. *sigh*
I haven't been sleeping well as I'm worried about the latest dance we are trying to learn as I have to perform it at a show at the end of September. My teacher came round this morning and the two of us who are performing it were given some extra tuition which was helpful. Our troupe have decided we want more rehearsals, so Monday evening and Wednesday lunchtime and evening are earmarked for some extra work with different members. It's a good job I'm not that busy this week! I danced nearly every day last week - I'm really tired.
On a more positive note - Mr Cee has finished laying the tiles for the utility room. He will be grouting them tomorrow and then the floor will need a week to dry before he can get the heated floor working. It's looking great, so I'll post some photos when it's finished.
Onto the style meme question 10: What fashions do you hate? I think any extremes of fashion are not usually very attractive. I didn't much care for all the shoulder pads in the women's clothing in the 1990s and tended to remove them once I bought something as I have quite broad shoulders. If we are going back further I thought the shoes in the 1970s were really ugly, expecially the platform soles.
Happy Saturday - I hope you've had a better week than me :)
