In honour of the new doctor I have uploaded the revised icon by

here for anyone who loves her work.
Mr Cee and I watched the new Doctor opener last night. Under the cut for fairly unspoiler-y thoughts.... but generally I liked it.
As usual when there is change there are a lot of dissenters and a lot of people who love it. Having been through far too many regenerations as I started watching Dr Who with Patrick Troughton at the 'helm', I was rather looking forward to Peter Capaldi as The Doctor as I hoped we would get away from the 'love interest' aspects of the companions. Aside from the 'boyfriend' references in last nights episode I'm hoping that will be the case...
Overall I thought the plot was a bit flimsy, but then the introductory episode of the new Doctor is always flimsy - they usually seem have quite a bit of companion/sidekick action and not a lot of Doctor stuff, and this was no exception. We very much enjoyed the 'nods' to other Doctors and other plots and timelines throughout, although at one point I did start to hope that Moffat wasn't going to add too many more, and that we should have played DW bingo with the references....
I though the Matt Smith cameo was OK - after all 11 has manipulated things before.
But best of all I liked Peter Capaldi and his mad eyebrows and his Scottish accent and all the silly things like the Doctor getting names confused and thinking everyone else had an accent.... I want to see how that develops. :)
Next week...daleks! \0/
