Goodness me, I've been absent from here for a while! I've been following posts on my phone, but haven't had the chance to grab the ol' laptop and write anything on here for ages...!
Outside my window: It's dark, but I can just make out the ornamental cherry tree outside our house which is in full blossom and that is occasionally falling and drifting like snow.
My thoughts... I'm feeling quite relaxed after a very hectic couple of weeks. My job responsibilities have changed (again!) and I'm being paid more over the next few months to cover the extra stuff I'm doing which is nice :) On the plus side the hectic stuff is much more interesting as the extra responsibility means I'm doing less of the boring stuff (I have a colleague who has taken that on for me). The plus side is that I'm still only working four days a week.
Today's Quote... "Have we no wine here?" William Shakespeare. And yet we do!
I am thankful for... Sons who are doing well at university. Youngest Cee came home for his birthday over the Easter break and went back last weekend. He has exams over the next few weeks, but will be coming home again for a while as he has a two week break between the first exam (next week) and the last three. Eldest Cee came home for his short break before his last week of assessments for the end of his degree. He goes back next weekend, and then has one week of handing in his dissertation, an exam and a presentation. He's doing very well as he has consistently got very high marks for his work (the last assessment he got 86% and most of the rest of his group only managed around the 60% mark *proud mum moment*).
What I learned this week... The English weather is unpredictable - Tuesday and Wednesday were so warm that I was contemplating wearing sandals to work, but then it got all cold again and rainy...... :(
From the kitchen last week... I've been making lots of yummy things lately, but a stand-out recipe was carrot and ginger soup which is absolutely delicious and used up a glut of carrots I had.
I am creating (crafts, sewing etc)... I'm not doing anything crafty at the moment, although I feel quite accomplished that we finished our bedroom remodel and it looks fab.
My adventures this week... (where are you going this week?).. Monday I am visiting a centre where our qualification is delivered to help them prepare for the end of the academic year. It could go well, but I'm slightly nervous as I have to help them deal with some criticism from us in a recent report about their centre and how they are assessing learners.
Becoming well read (What are you reading this week?).. I've been reading a LOT! I've got hooked on Lee Child's Jack Reacher books which are interesting enough to pass the time on my train journey. I've just finished the fourth book in the series which I was rather disappointed in as I guessed whodunnit about half way through. I'm hoping book five will be better.
I manifest and co-create (what are your hopes and dreams this week) To be allowed to take Friday instead of Wednesday off so that Mr Cee, Eldest Cee and I can go and see Iron Man 3 *geeks"
Melody (what music are you listening to? even if it's just the sound of a bird).. I have the TV on with Men in Black on. J! K! Flashy thing!
One of my favourite things... Tonight we had roast venison, potatoes lyonnaise and peas for dinner and it was lovely. Food is a favourite thing :)
Goals reached last week... Got lots of things sorted out for the end of this academic year which I'm really pleased about.
Things that made my week this week... Praise from the Director of my department. :)
Still life (share a picture you've taken OR a picture you found online that speaks to you)... Cherry blossom like the trees down my road this week:
In other news my kitties continue to be a source of joy - particularly when they are so happy to see us when we open the bedroom door in the morning. Kitties are snugly and love cuddles.
We're also enjoying lots of TeeVee - Elementary is good fun, and we are enjoying it very much (which is a surprise). I like it as much as Sherlock and as much as the old Jeremy Brett series - all of them are Sherlock Holmes in their own ways. NCIS continues to be so good (Ducky!); Castle is so silly, but it's lovely to see Nathan Fillion; Once Upon a Time would be nothing without Robert Carlyle - so glad he has a regular role!; Da Vinci's Demons is very atmospheric so far - I have high hopes; Suits continues to remind me of LA Law, so that's OK; Doctor Who is fun and silly and I love how Matt Smith moves (so wacky!) - I'm looking forward to the Tennant episode too!. In other news, I'm sad that Alphas has been cancelled, and I'm not sure whether to watch the rest of Broadchurch which we have recorded as we got so bored after the fourth episode....
Happy Saturday!
