Book of days

Aug 27, 2010 18:47

It's the end of my last day of summer holiday from work - this weekend is a long one, and it's back to work on Tuesday which I'm not looking forwards to.

Would you believe the Interim HR Manager sent me an email saying she would get my contracts sorted out and sent to me and hoped 'I'd had a nice holiday' - good grief, what a very thoughtless thing to say after everything! She still hasn't sent me the details though... am I surprised? *eyeroll*

By the way - thank you everyone who was so supportive during the 10 days I was panicking (albeit unnecessarily!) about my contract. I appreciate that so many of you took the time to wish me well *hugs you all inappropriately*

Outside my window: My goodness I so fed up with the drizzly, dismal, days. It's been so chilly today I've put the heating on!! Someone tell the Powers that Be it's still August! So I'm looking out a dull cloud ridden sky (again). It is supposed to be nicer over the weekend, but this being England it is likely to be almost any kind of weather!

My thoughts... Unfortunately the last few days have been caught up in work-related stuff, but I'm determined to relax this weekend. A good friend I've not seen for ages is coming over tomorrow morning for a long chat and a cup of coffee (or two). I'm looking forward to a trip to the cinema on Sunday with the whole family too.

Today's Quote... "What we learn with pleasure we never forget." Alfred Mercier

I am thankful for... Still having a job! I went in to talk to my new Manager yesterday morning to help her understand the qualification we're running as it's new to her. She was extremely supportive and is trying to persuade the College to give me the title of Deputy Head of School for my area. Which would be rather nice...

What I learned this week... I don't function well without sunny days. I know that I feel like this in the winter when it's very dull (everything is an effort and I lack energy and am constantly tired), but it's horrible to feel like this in the summer too! :(

From the kitchen last week... Mr Cee and I decided to do something about losing some weight - so we've been following the Rosemary Conley 'Inch Loss Plan'. It's rather good with some exceptionally nice food combinations. It seems to be working as my clothes are definitely looser and I don't feel hungry at all.

I am creating (crafts, sewing etc)... I had some Amazon.co.uk vouchers and so once I'd found out my contract was OK I treated myself to Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Teacher and Student edition. It arrived yesterday and I've been playing with it today. I haven't done anything very creative for such a long time, so it'll be nice to learn a new graphics program. I also created an icon for Round 1 of thebluebox_lims and have submitted it *gulps*

My adventures this week... (where are you going this week?).. After the long weekend it's back to work (booo!), which of course naturally starts with a meeting at 9am *sigh*

Becoming well read (What are you reading this week?).. I'm reading 'Redbreast' by Jo Nesbo which is very good so far!

I manifest and co-create (what are your hopes and dreams this week) I am hoping for a fairly relaxing week at work with no questions, queries or things that need me sorting them out. Whether I get that of course...!!

Melody (what music are you listening to? even if it's just the sound of a bird).. I've been listening to Christian Kane's music recently.

One of my favourite things... Having a lie in with Mr Cee at the weekend.

Goals reached last week... I don't think I had any goals last week. I did catch up with the ironing (yay!)

Things that made my week this week... Getting Photoshop CS5 to play with \0/

Still life (share a picture you've taken OR a picture you found online that speaks to you)...

This is a picture of my home screen for my iPhone. Yes - I am that sad that this pleases me every time I use my phone :)
