Ouch!! According to my 'inside/outside' thermometer gadget it got down to -5 last night here. Brrr. Thick frost on the car this morning. Good luck with your journey to fix the puncture! The roads around here are awful!
-7,3 outside. The cold will stay at least a week, I love it!
Going out to snap photos of ice-crystals tomorrow! Got some nice ones today, before Bonnie, the poodle, was scared by firecrackers and wanted to go home.
2 pair of long underwear and my "photo-mittens" keeps me warm. (And 3 sweaters, wool cap and furlined winter shoes + some more.) I hate freezing. New freezer sounds nice. I have ice-age in mine, there are ziplocks I can´t tell the contents of there. Woolly mammoth or such? Has been there for AGES... I´m a very bad housekeeper ;O) Might infact defrost it now that I can put the food on the balcony while defrosting it.
Sounds so weird when you read the newspapers about the whole country coming to a halt because of 5-10 cm of snow.
Here it takes at least a half meter of the white stuff to stop trains and buses. That´s in town. We´re out on the countryside are tougher than that. LOL! We don´t even try to use the cars if it´s bad enough. Just have to wait ´till the roads are cleared of snow. That´s smart. Snowchains? We have wintert yres, with those little metal"studs" imbedded.
My sister lives in Gällivare up north, they have real winters with temperatures dowm to -35 C. Doesn´t feel very cold though ´cause the air is so dry. Here it´s so humid and raw when the Baltic Sea isn´t covered with ice. But the ice is building up if the cold weather stays for another week. Just the snow is missing now, but the frost is nice...
At least you know it'll be consistently cold for you for a significant amount of time. The worst part about UK weather is that it's so unpredictable!
I know what you mean about cold not feeling cold. When we were in Bergen one winter it was down to -18, but it seemed so warm as there was no wind and it was dry (for once! LOL!). You do feel that kind of cold in your bones though! *g*
I would probably moan, but I'd like to see more snow here. We had a tiny amount which lasted one day and then it all disappeared again.... I suppose that's the advantage of living in a temperate area.

We're just so unprepared for the cold here - the roads are so slippery today!

Masses of accidents this morning so a good thing many people have the day off.
