Beautiful paintings! It's interesting to hear how he used fabric to enhance the portraits.
I liked seeing the sailor style outfit of the boy in the first painting. I have a picture of my dad wearing a similar outfit when he was a young boy.
My favorites are Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose and Lady Agnew of Lachnaw.

It was quite amazing to think that some of the fabric in those paintings is from J S Sargent's mind!
I thought that one with the boy and his mother was lovely. Lots of emotion on their faces.

It was fascinating, and much larger than I thought it was going to be! Apparently, it wasn't that unusual to use the wings of beetles as decoration!
