It just goes to show what great taste I have when it comes to friending people.
I will go and read them (maybe tomorrow, as it's getting late), but I wanted to get my thoughts together first.
Fringe
Season one did a lot of dialogue recaps/info dumps, whereas season two relied more heavily on the 'previouslies' (we got both here). To a fan the second is always irritating: we know what happened, we don't actually want or need a bunch of clips to remind us. The first, as long as it is believable and interesting can work. I did like the one they used in this ep it was both believable and interesting - can't say I'll fee the same another five or so rewatches down the track... *g*
Of course none of that really matters, as they don't that kind of thing for me - or any of the other hard core fans. We're not the ones who pull in the ratings. That would be the people who are casual viewers and do need the reminder, particularly when it comes to the more long term plot archs.
OK, lets actually get on with the episode. ^.^
Brainwashing Olivia. I do find it interesting that Walternate apparently wants two Olivia's for the price of one. Also that he sent the more expendable one to the other universe. Of course that was the way it worked out - but I can't help but think it worked out to his benefit to keep our Olivia with him. She is, after all the one who was treated with Cortexiphan, and it will be much more beneficial if he can convince her to use it for his purposes, rather than force her to do so.
I'm not convinced that Olivia is pretending to think she is Alt!Olivia. Her passivity at the end of the episode seems to indicate that she is biding her time until an opportunity arises to make good her escape, but at the same time I can think of some good storylines where she doesn't know who she really is. So I guess we'll have to wait and see. It could go either way. I love that about Fringe.
Olivia saving herself. That's my girl. There is never a point where Olivia is not awesome. Ever. I love her for her strength and her guts and her bravery. She is awesome. Actually, no she isn't. She is more awesome than anyone. EVER.
Do we know that the Amber is necessary? I assume so as Bell didn't seem to question it, but do we really know, for sure?
You know what? Doubles still squick me out. A LOT. I have quite a bit of trouble watching any scene that Alt!Olivia is in, especially any scene that also contains someone from our universe. I even had a little trouble with Alt!Olivia's mum. Charlie, however, is awesome in any universe.
The little things:
Dogs The Musical? That I would like to see - in a WTF? kind of a way. (I don't really like Cats)
Daily flights to the moon. I want this so bad.
LOL IRL @ the penny farthing.
Alt!Brandon!
What's with the earing thing that the guys are wearing? Fashion? If yes, then it's an icky one.
Looks like this season will alternate episodes between universes for a little while anyway. Looking foward to it - despite the whole doubles thing, though I don't know if I can cope with Alt!Olivia/Peter. In theory I love the screwed upness of the whole thing, in practise it makes my skin creep.
Glee
I was quite pleased with the new episode. I thought that it was everything I generally like about Glee with very little of the sucky part. It wasn't a particularly funny episode, though it did have it's moments. The songs ranged from good to medicore (loved 'Empire State of Mind', 'Billionaire' and 'Telephone', wasn't so hot on the rest). Will and Rachel got themselves into trouble for being horrible, but it didn't come off in the nauseating 'after school special'-ness this show can sometimes fall into.
Jacob Ben Irael's blog = online Glee community.
Sunshine was awesome. Do we know if Charice is in anymore episodes? Though she does look extremely young next to the cast.
I am completely in love with Chord Overstreet's voice. The more of that we hear of that the better.
I do have to say that I dislike the way this show deal with sexual harassment. The most obvious ones being the pilot and this episode. I'm not usually one who has problems with Will showing up in support of the Glee kids in Figgins office. It is likely that they are allowed to have an adult they trust with them when they meets with the principal, and for most of the Glee kids it isn't outside the realm of possiblity that it would be Will.
However in this case it really wasn't appropriate. And the coach shouldn't have been there. And the one person who really should have been there - Emma, the counsellor - wasn't. I know it's meant to show how crappy the school really is, but the fact it's not treated as seriously as it should is a serious buzz kill. :| And it brought down what was otherwise a pretty good episode.
Next week is the Britney epsiode!

A new show for me. I only just got into a couple of weeks back. I loved season one, though. Wasn't particularly enthralled by the first ep of season two, but we'll see.
