In what can be modestly described as a landmark decision, the U.S. Supreme Court yesterday held that the Second Amendment confers an individual to possess firearms.1 The decision has been much discussed and will undoubtedly continue to be dissected for decades to come. I find it irony of ironies that the NRA was actually staunchly against bringing something like Heller to the Supremes.

Well... Alito was no "sure thing" given his U.S. Attorney background. I wonder if his presence contributed to the substantial tempering of this opinion.
