“Chinen, stop giggling! You’re going to give us away before we even started!”
“I told you we should have taken Yama-chan with us instead of him. But nooo! You insisted that Chinen would be fine! I told you so, Yuto. I repeat, I told you!”
“You know Yama-chan’s taking a nap. If you don’t mind dealing with his wrath then,” he shrugged, “by all means, go ahead.”
“Now that I think clearly, I think Chinen is a better choice after all.”
“I thought so.”
“You two do know that you are making a whole lot more of noise instead of me?”
“Well who do you think the cause is?!”
“What, now it’s my fault?”
“It’s always your fault.”
“Excuse me?!”
“Oh, sorry. I mean, it’s almost always your fault.”
“What are you guys doing?”
Three heads snapped up to stare at their catcher, looking every bit like deers caught in headlight. Seeing who the person was, the three sighed breaths in relief, before Chinen pulled his bandmate down.
“Be quiet, Yuma. You won’t want to be caught.”
“I don’t even know what I would be caught for. Did you drag Nakajima-kun and Okamoto-kun in one of your evil scene again, Chinen-kun?”
“Yuto, Yuma-kun”
“And you can call me Keito. Our last names are rather a mouthful to say.”
“I’ll try to remember. Anyway, what are you guys doing?”
Chinen’s grin was positively devilish. Yuma was starting to regret ever approaching the three of them now.
“You know what, I don’t think I want to know. I’ll take my leave now.”
A hand tugged his T-shirt and he was forced back down.
“Oh, no you don’t. You’ve seen us. There’s no way we are letting you go now.”
“Chinen-kun, you are huddling behind a vending machine. In the hallway. Everyone passing by would have seen you without having to squint.”
“Fine, be that way! If we are caught, the burden of our tragic death will be in your hands.”
“Don’t mind him, Yuma-kun. Go ahead to wherever you need to go.”
“I’ve used to it, Oka- Keito-kun. I too have to deal with him from time to time.”
The two waved as the boy walked away, the third one was too busy sulking to do the same.
“You speak as if I wasn’t here. That was rude!”
“Not like it bothers you or anything.”
The youngest paused for a while before shrugging nonchalantly, “True that. Now, you two, behave! We have a mission and we will complete it.”
Both Keito and Yuto rolled their eyes, but started to creep along the corridor, following the younger boy’s lead. Their goal was in their sight already. Now, if they could just get pass this hallway without being seen…
“Oh! Chinen! Yuto! Keito!”
The three froze midway step and turned back in horror. There stood in front of them, looking rather amused, were their group’s ‘parents’, as they had started to see them as. The two older boys wore a surprisingly similar bemused expressions upon seeing them.
“What’s with your expressions? Do I have something on my face?”
“Well,” the younger of the two out a finger on his own chin, adapting a mock thinking pose. “You do seem a little bit uglier than usual.”
A vein popped onto the boy’s best friend’s temple.
“And you hair also looked more unpleasant as well.”
Another vein popped.
“And that shirt colour seemed to look particularly bad for your skin tone.”
A third one made an appearance.
“So overall, you looked just like you always do,” the younger ended with a bright smile.
The older boy let out a growl, “You better start running, Hikaru.”
“Now, Mommy, domestic violence is very bad. You don’t want to set a bad example to the kids, do you? Right-? Huh? Where did they go? Ow!”
Hikaru rubbed his head where his best friend had whacked him. Said best friend only snorted.
“It seems that they’ve escaped while you were goofing off.”
“You gave me the perfect opportunity to, so I demand that you take half the blame, Kota.”
The older just snorted mock haughtily. A moment later, a wide grin spread on his face. Hikaru, seeing that, grinned back, though a tad more mischievous. A rather evil glint had entered both their eyes.
“You do know, Hika, what’s usually going on when 7 started to act fidgety around us.”
The younger nodded vigorously, “They are attempting to have another sleepover, aren’t they?”
Kota chuckled in amusement, “And they were wondering how we always know when they are having a sleepover. They may be wonderful actors, but they are absolutely terrible in being discreet.”
“It makes me wonder from time to time too.”
“They are especially obvious this time though.”
“You know, I think that the more determined they are, the more obvious they become.”
The two exchanged amused smile.
“You two are planning something again, aren’t you?”
The two jolted, before whirling around. Sometimes karma could slap you right in the face.
“Kitayama-kun! You’re giving us heart attacks!” Kota exclaimed as he rested a hand on his chest, trying to calm his frantically beating heart.
“Déjà vu, isn’t it?” Came the dry reply, as the oldest man push a button on the vending machine, before bending down to retrieve his drink.
“Were you spying on us?” Hikaru narrowed his eyes.
A sound of canned drink being popped open was heard, “Nope.” Kitayama took a sip before continuing. “I’ve learnt firsthand just how dangerous it is to spy on any of Hey!Say!JUMP’s members. Fujigaya’s scary stories about Yama-chan and Yuto’s mischievous tendency are not exactly helping your case either.”
The two boys sweat dropped at that. They were not that scary!
They exchanged a look.
Right?
“So,” the oldest drawled. “I’m not getting in the way of your ‘family’s’,” he made a quotation mark with his fingers, “matters. You can go back to whatever it was that you were planning. I’m outta here. Bye!”
The two waved rather distractedly.
“You know, Kota, I think we’ve scarred them for life.”
One corner of the older boy’s mouth twitched.
“I somehow believe that Kis-My-Ft2 is not the only group that we’ve traumatized, Hika.”
The younger flinched.
“Touché”

“How many boxes have you had today, Daiki?”
“This is only my 2nd box, Inoo-chan. And don’t make that face to me.”
“Don’t patronize me! And it’s not even noon yet! Don’t you think you eat too many pocky?”
“Nope!”
“I swear your main food is pocky intead of rice like nor- Yuya, what are you doing?”
Said boy turned to face the two who just entered their practice room from where he was crouching in front of the couch. The oldest of the three grinned wickedly, before pointing to the figure lying on the couch, seemingly fast asleep.
“Can you believe Yama-chan has just growled at me? I never thought human can growl.”
The two sweat dropped.
“I somehow can believe that, knowing that chibi,” Daiki walked to the two, Inoo following close behind him. “But I really don’t think it is a wise idea to disturb him while he was sleeping, Takaki-kun.”
“I think it will be quite entertaining,” Inoo plopped down onto the other couch. “And Yuya would be the one to bear the burnt of it, so I won’t complain.”
“Sometimes I wonder whether it is Hikaru-kun or you who is the evil one, Inoo-chan,” Yuya deadpanned.
Inoo waved a hand carelessly, “Hikaru is the devil in BEST, Chinen is the devil in 7. I am simply the sadistic one in JUMP.”
“I can’t tell whether or not you are joking on this,” Daiki blinked repeatedly.
Inoo just shrugged while grinning, looking positively devious. “Take it whichever way you want it to be.”
The other two had to repress a shudder seeing that. Better not encourage him to do something to prove what he had just claimed. Inoo may look harmless, but if put his mind to it, he could be just as bad as Hikaru and Chinen.
Combined.
If not worse.
“So you were saying?” Daiki attempted to steer the topic away from Inoo and his - self proclaimed - sadistic tendency.
It took a few seconds for Yuya to get himself out of his trance.
“What? Oh, that! Here, watch!”
He then proceeded to poke the only 7 member on his cheek. The youngest grumbled before swatting the hand away. When the hand poked him again, the grumble turned to a growl as he attempted to bury his face onto the jacket he was using as a pillow.
Yuya snickered and continued to poke the well-on-his-way-to-awaken boy on his face and side. The boy on the couch squirmed and shifted, trying to escape from the annoying hands that won’t leave him alone to sleep in peace.
The other two were torn between laughing at the hilarity of the situation or rescue the youngest boy from Yuya’s childishly annoying behavior. Before they could decide though, Ryosuke let out another growl and the next think they knew, the duo were stumbling to the floor.
Apparently Ryosuke had decided that he’s had enough and retaliated by pouncing on his disturber.
“Well, I didn’t expect that,” Daiki commented, eyeing the mess of limbs in the floor. He set down his pocky on the recently unoccupied couch before pulling the younger boy off Yuya.
“Dai-chan?” Came the sleepy question.
“Yes, it’s me. Now get up, Yamada,” he helped his bandmate onto his feel, before stumbling as Ryosuke seemed to put all of his weigh on him. “A little help here?”
Inoo made a face before raising to his feet, taking the pocky off the couch and made an extravagant bow, “The coast is clear.”
“Inoo-chan!”
The soon-to-be-architect pouted but complied, patting the youngest’s head.
“Hey, Yama-chan! Wake up! Come on!” When that did not work, he pause for a moment - to Daiki’s annoyance - before grinning and fished a stick of Pocky out of the box. “I have a pocky right here, Yama-chan,” he sang.
“Inoo! That’s mine!”
“Oh hush, you’ve had lots already. One stick wouldn’t make a difference.”
“It will,” the still trapped boy grumbles.
“Yama-chan, pocky,” the pianist sang again, wiggling the pocky in his hand.
“Ask Ryutaro if he had any, stupid Keito,” the half-asleep boy mumbled out. “It’s his house.”
The two boys exchange confused glances.
“Hey, Yamada, are you awake there?”
“Stupid BEST. Don’t crash in here,” another almost undecipherable mumble. “I’ll have Shintaro chase you out.”
“He’s sleep talking,” Inoo sweat dropped.
Daiki scowled, before forcing the younger boy off him and onto the couch. The younger immediately snuggled onto the soft material of the couch and fell quiet once again.
“What was that about?” Daiki shook his head.
“I really have no idea,” Inoo replied, his voice sounded as stunned as the other.
“Hey, everyone!”
The two turned towards the door, raising their eyebrows when two of their sub groups came into the room. Both supported huge grins on their faces.
“Okay, who is the poor victim this time?” Daiki crossed his arms.
“No one, no one,” Hikaru waved a hand. “We just got good news. By the way, why are you on the floor Bakaki?”
Realising they had forgotten about Yuya, both Inoo and Daiki turned find that, yes, the boy was still lying on the floor where Yama-chan had tackled him just a couple of minutes ago.
“You okay, Yuya?”
Said boy groaned, “Never tickle a sleeping dragon.”
The oldest, seeing the sleeping boy and realizing what had happened, snorted, “Never disturb a sleeping Yama-chan, more like.”
“Yeah, that too,” Takaki climbed to his feet before looking around to find somewhere to sit. Making a decision, he lifted the sleeping boy’s feet, slipped under them and laid them on his lap. “So? What’s your good news?”
The others settled themselves on the other couch, Daiki fetching his pocky beforehand.
“We think 7 is planning to have another sleepover,” Hikaru grinned.
The three perked up at this news. One thing they all loved to do was annoy the younger sub group. The younger boys still acted childish at times that made them the perfect targets.
“Did you find out where and when?” Daiki asked around a stick of pocky.
“Not yet. They escaped while Hikaru was goofing off. We couldn’t fish any information from them.”
Inoo put a finger on his chin, “Probably Ryutaro’s place.” He was met with incredulous stares. “Yama-chan sleep-talked just now. Who knows, maybe he really thought that I was Keito and he did imply that they were at Ryutaro’s house.”
“Well,” the group’s joker grinned maliciously and rubbed his hands together. “We do have a mean to check it, don’t we?”
“What do you mean?” Yuya frowned, feeling rather intimidated by that grin.
“Yama-chan’s asleep, no? We’ll check his phone”
“I don’t know, Hikaru,” Yabu hesitated.
“Just a little peek won’t hurt,” Daiki shrugged.
He had tweaked Ryosuke’s phone so many times - changing his ring tone, or wallpaper, or the names in his contact list - before just to annoy the younger and vice versa that it no longer an issue for the two of them. He reached for the younger’s bag and started to rummage through it, feeling the stare of four pairs of eyes on his head. Spotting a shiny black phone, he pulled it out and - grinning to his awake bandmates - went through the messages.
“Here it is,” he announced.
The other three leaned to him, peering from behind his shoulders, seeing as Yuya was still trapped by Ryosuke’s legs.
“Ryutaro’s place, tonight. Heh, seems like they make this one with as little planning as possible so we don’t have much time to find out.” He placed the phone back into the bag and placed the bag back to where he had taken it.
“They underestimate us,” Inoo shook his head. “Really, who do they think we are?”
“Annoying, clingy older brothers probably,” Takaki leaned back, scoffing lightly, no matter that it was more likely true.
Yabu stood up and stretched, “Well, it’s their loss then. We’ll meet at the train station again then? This evening at 6? Can you make it, Inoo-chan?”
“Sure do,” the pianist nodded. “There’s no way I would miss this.”
Hidden behind the jacket he had pulled close to him, a slight smirk went unnoticed.

Later that night, five boys stood in front of a house, waiting for the owner to open the door. When it opened, they came face to face with their junior.
“Good evening, Shintaro,” Hikaru grinned at the younger’s astonished face. “Can we come in? Yes? Thank you!”
Shintaro seemed to have frozen his tongue for a few seconds as they went into the house. The five were already well on their way when the boy recovered, finally finding his voice again.
“Wait, Yabu-kun!”
The called boy turned around, “Don’t worry, we know the way.”
Leaving the stunned boy at the door, the five of them tiptoed to their ex-bandmate’s room. Hushed conversation reached their ears and grins spread across their faces.
Yabu reached for the door and as quietly as he could open it…
…only to reveal empty room.
Puzzled, he carelessly opened it fully, letting his bandmates see that there was not a single person in the room.
“What the-” came the incredulous response from Daiki.
“Where are they?” Takaki went in and looked around, trying to see if the younger boys were hiding. The hushes conversation continued, though more pronounced than before. Following the sound, he found that the CD player was on. And played on repeat. He pushed the stop button.
Inoo blinked as he looked around, setting his bag slowly on the floor, “What’s going on here?”
Sound of footsteps getting louder and they turned, seeing Shintaro walking to them with his little sister tailing behind him. The boy’s face still held some trace of disbelief in them.
“Are you sure niichan’s room big enough? Niichan insist that you won’t mind. He had prepared some futon in there before he went.”
The older boys exchanged confused glances.
“I don’t think we are not at the same page here, Shintaro,” Daiki started. “Where is Ryutaro? You said he went out?”
Their junior looked confused, “I thought you knew already. You guys volunteered after all.”
“What exactly did we volunteer for?”
“Babysitting. Well, teensitting was more like it, but you get the idea. Niichan said that they’ll ask you if you can help since he’s having a sleepover at Yuto-kun’s place and Mom and Dad have to attend some fancy dinner thing with Dad’s colleagues. They don’t trust me in the house alone with her,” he nudged his little sister, “without niichan. But they say okay if you are here. I didn’t think all of you would really show up, I thought niichan was just trying to escape babysitting when he said that.”
Stunned silence filled the room when Shintaro finished his explanation. Five faces filled with shock were what greeted him and he had to frown.
“You didn’t know,” he didn’t mean that as a question.
The five shook their heads numbly.
“It seems that it is us who underestimate them,” Takaki scowled. “Those little devils.”
“I was wondering that they were more obvious than normal,” Yabu sighed. “Apparently we have played right into their hands. This way we can’t just off and go to Yuto’s house.”
Inoo pouted but attempted to take it in a stride, “Well, might as well do our duty. What do you usually do, Shin-chan? Have you had your dinner?”
The boy shook his head. “Mom already prepared the rice and dishes though. We’ll just have to reheat then. And I’ve done all my homework. Moreover, tomorrow’s Sunday, so no pressure.”
A familiar song reached their ears and Daiki fumbled with his pocket, pulling his phone. “Ryutaro,” he gritted out when he saw the screen. “Go ahead, Shintaro. We’ll catch up after this.”
Shintaro looked unsure, but led his sister away into the living room. Once the siblings were out of sight, Daiki pushed the receive button and put the call on speaker.
“Yes, Ryutaro?” He said in annoyed voice.
“Good evening, Dai-chan,” the overly cheerful voice of Ryutaro replied. They all could just hear the smirk the boy must have been sporting right now, as well as some giggling at the background.
“You guys do know that the war is on now, right?” Hikaru said in a much too calm voice.
“You started it!” Came Chinen’s voice, “Always crashing in our sleepover like that.”
The statement was followed by noises of agreement from the other side as they all seemed to want to put in their piece of mind as well.
“Anyway!” Ryutaro almost had to shout over the commotion. “We’re just checking since Shin has just sent me a message. Have fun, guys! Bye!”
Shouts of goodbye of all variation managed to go through before the connection was cut.
“They really got us this time, aren’t they?” Inoo grimaced.
“They sure are,” Hikaru stated as he walked towards the living room. He turned around suddenly and sent his bandmates a wicked smirk, which the rest of them returned.
“We are going to pay them back in kind though.”

Ryutaro shut his phone off with a smug smile on his face before turning to the other four.
“Told you it would work,” he smirked, looking very proud of himself.
“Can’t believe they really bought it,” Chinen cheered. “I thought we were making it too obvious and easy that they were going to figure the whole thing out.”
Keito flopped back onto the floor, sighing. “All those plannings really paid off!”
“Yama-chan was great too,” Yuto ruffled his best friend’s hair, getting a light push from the shorter boy.
“It was still my idea at first though,” Ryutaro said haughtily, puffing up his chest for more effect.
Ryosuke rolled his eyes, “Yes, yes, Einstein, we know that already. No need to announce it again and again. It just makes you look like an arrogant kid, bragging like that.”
Instantly, the two were face to face. A pair of hands quickly pushed them apart though, flicking their forehead as they do. The scowls on their faces were redirected to the owner of the hands.
“Stop fighting, you two,” Chinen glared. “Our very first BEST-free sleepover and you spend it fighting with each other. Really!”
“It’s rather expected of them, actually,” Keito chuckled around his chips. “Finally meeting each other after some time, first thing they did was fighting.”
“They wouldn’t be them if they didn’t” Yuto nodded vigorously from where he was flipping through the DVD that his bandmates had brought with them. “Who brings Mamma Mia?” He held up the DVD, rising an eyebrow.
“Ah, that would be me,” Keito raised his hand. His bandmates gave him strange looks and he reddened. “Someone suggested it to me.”
“Oh?”
The smirk on Ryosuke’s face made him felt rather uneasy. He was sure whatever happen next would be with him as the main victi- sorry, he meant, target.
“Let’s watch it then. Since Keito bring it after all.”
“Why not,” Ryutaro grinned. “I haven’t seen it as well.”
The oldest face palmed himself. Now that he was the target, they ganged up against him. Why couldn’t those two choose another time to agree on something?
“I’ll go get some popcorn. Chinen, help me bring extra drinks,” Yuto stood up and headed for the door.
Chinen complied with him agreeably, skips in his steps and humming under his breath. He turned around before he was fully out of the room, “Behave, you three.” Then he was gone.
“I swear Chinen acts like a mother hen sometimes,” Ryutaro commented.
“Yeah, I think so too,” Ryosuke replied.
“Me three,” Keito said with a chuckle. He pushed himself up, “Well, might as well put the CD in.”
“In a hurry, aren’t you, Keito?” Came the teasing again.
He glared at the youngest boy, the pink staining his cheeks again, “Whatever, Ryutaro. Just gather the pillows and blankets together.”
The two saluted him and went to work, grins on their faces.
Later, as they settled down no the nest of blankets, pillows and cushions, they couldn't help but grinning in satisfaction and exchanging smug smirks.
They were really having their own sleepover, without any interruption this time. On top of that, they managed to settle a score with BEST too.
Revenge sure was sweet.
