The collective ATS*-based troupe I'm in is populated by a bunch of big geeks.
This past weekend was the 5th year of a local dance convention. We've performed the last 3 years, doing ATS sets with varying degrees of theatricality involved.
This year we decided to turn the theater aspect up a bit eand let our geek flags fly.
Here is a link to our performance, though sadly the preview image at Vimeo gives away the reveal. Bonus fan points to anyone who can guess the inspiration behind the entrance piece.
There are already bigger and better plans for an epic (disaster? who knows!) future collaborative project with a bunch of other dancers. Until then, Fairie Fest is looming and we have 5 weeks to pull together three 40 minute sets.
*ATS - American Tribal Style: an American fusion belly dance style where the dancers share a movement vocabulary and use cues to create an improvisational choreography while dancing. We're doing it in the second and fourth/bows sections.
