ode to Toronto

It's an alright place with many people traveling the highways to get to a strip mall, or a chain restaurant, or to venture downtown for a more unique array of shops and restaurants.  Kind of.  It's a mass marketing consumerist society out here. I haven't had the chance to find a small neighborhood with indepndent shops, aside from the various Sri Lankan ethnic places. Yes the small places do exist, but as you drive and even downtown, it's your regular chains on every corner.

I dunno, there's variety in a way but not in the way we see in Vancity.  That being said I have only been here 7 days while Vancouver is a place I am still discovering.  Restaurants are my big thing there right now, so the upcoming Dine Out Vancouver excites me so!  Set menus for $15,  $25 or $35 dollars include an appetizer, entree and dessert.  Mmmm!

Global Warming.  Really people, only NOW YOU'RE FIGURING THIS OUT?!?!?! ONLY NOW WE"RE GOING TO ADVERTISE AND PROMOTE AWARNESS WHEN IT'S HAPPENING?!?!? WHAT HAPPENED TO PREVENTION!?!?  Since I was a kid I've heard this and that about our ozone depleting and yes, I was lucky to have that environmental conscience.  Now there seems to be a "hype" because we're seeing the effects in our weather.  Why do we need the PROOF before we change our lifestyles? I feel like it's too late, but that's the pessimist in me.  Go out, buy your smart car. That's what they want. Now marketing will just be "green" to get the bucks.

So I have watched a LOT of television this week.  My uncle and I enjoy "Everybody Loves Raymond".  Yes, stimulating I know.  I caught an episode of "The Wonder Years" yesterday!!!! The inner-dialogue is so laaaame!  But the nostalgia was great.
