I tend to hit the wine when I'm home alone on a night after some sort of "stress" may have happened. Today I house-hunted and saw 5 different flats in Sutton, Tooting and Morden. In the end I wanted to come and call Rez to tell him about them since he'll be living here too. I was 2 hours too late when I called to find out about the one I really liked. DAMN! Tooting will be a bit far to commute but it is only one bus from the high street AND it just seems so vibrant. In a different way from downtown London. It's just people all together doing their daily thing, but more of them in one place. Sutton makes sense for me being closest to work of course, but it's nice to be in between so I can get to London later at night... and to get away from being so close to students and such. Still, I just have to keep looking now... arg.
So I turned on the old telly to catch the last bit of "Stictly Come Dancing" (aka Dancing With the Stars) and now I'm watching "X-Factor" (aka American Idol.. complete with Simon as a judge!) I just laughed when Kylie Minogues sister Dani cried as her contestant took to the stage. I dunno, I don't buy into all this (tho I appreciate the effort of the singers and dancers as they learn and perfect their art forms, I do love hearing/watching them) but the whole judging and hype is too much. We all like different dancing and singing so the judges comments are somehwat irrelevant I find. Especially when the public puts in so many votes. Then again, the public listen to the stupid judges and goes by their words. Stupid public! The X-Factor judges are biased because they each "sponser" some contestants so of course they say positive things about their contestant. Now I'm watching their sob story videos to get me in the mood.
About hitting the wine, it's alright, Everyone else here does it! And I just bought one of those mini-bottles anyways :P
On Thursday we had this "meet the governor" meeting at school. Instead of our school boards and trustees the school has a governing body of LEA (local education authority) people, parents, community leaders and staff who meet once a month for them crazy govenor (meetings). So on "meet the governors" night they supplied wine and food in the staffroom... by the end of the evening I was SO CLOSE to greeting everyone with "allo Govna!" but I was talked out of it. Damn.
Simon is yelling "shut up! Shut up!"
I miss everyone in Vancouver and as the holidays approach.... lonely!
Now i'm watching the sob story of Leon, but he's my fave in the competition so yes, I've become part of the wooing british public watching X- Factor.
I am British after all, geez.
"Goodnight Govna's!"
