Today has been better...
And now that I can write (if not yet talk) coherently about about things, this is what happened.
On Sunday morning at 4.40am, Stevie got a call from the hospital to say that Sara had suffered two more pulminory embolisms, had been moved to intensive care, was "very poorly" and that he should come to the hospital.
Theresa rang me about 6.45 to let me know that Sara had been taken to intensive care. She obviously had no idea how bad the situation really was... We spoke about "all hands to the pumps" and what we could do to help out Stevie and I said that I would try to get to the hospital after work because even if they weren't allowing non-family into intensive care, I could still be there for Stevie. Theresa had her grandchildren with her so couldn't get up to Scotland until Thursday (tomorrow) and I said I would keep her up to date with what I found out so that Stevie didn't have to worry about that.
I put the phone down and, before I went back to sleep, sent Sara reiki...
She was conscious in intensive care, although I'm not sure for how long - but she did speak with Stevie... I know, from what he said about the conversation, that she was aware of how sick she was and of how bad the odds were. I also know that she would have fought like buggery to stay with him and little Steven...
But just after nine, she passed away...
We never did get around to dying her hair that wonderful "Cadbury's" purple that I had found... She was so busy with end-of-term meetings concerning little Steven and him starting his new school in August, and I was busy with life too. I'm seriously considering buying that purple dye and doing my own hair, after her funeral, just in honour of her. I think she'd like that.
She repayed my buying that dye for her, by taking me to see the Indiana Jones movie...
She didn't get to see the "Carson Beckett" episodes of the last season of SGA, either... That was a future plan for a Saturday afternoon (before the footie season started again) at my house - an "Oh, by the way, dearest, I'm out at Kaz's on Saturday" announcement for Stevie...
Nor did she have a chance to wear the "I've just been naughty! I bought another" purple top that she phoned me to tell me about, giggling away at the fact that it was loud and sparkly and "Stevie's going to hate it!" - cue more giggling.
Life is going to be that little bit less insane without her.
Blessed Be, Sara.
