The beat-down at the end didn't look like Dean being pissed off to me. It looked like Dean deciding, no, he wasn't going to KILL Sam. But that doesn't mean he felt safe around him. And that was a blitz attack designed to knock Sam out so he could get him hog-tied in the back of the Impala and on the way to Bobby's before he woke up.

that... makes a lot more sense. Hoping that's what'll happen! Would make my interpretation of that last scene much better, because as it stands now, I see no merit in it.

While I did think Dean was pissed off with Sam, particularly for putting Ben and him in danger and that seemed to be the reason for the beatdown, I do think that he was making sure that Sam got the help he said he needed. In other words, Dean was going to make sure Sammy didn't get away. As much as Sam said the words that he needed help, I wonder if that was only lip-service again. I do think he was being truthful about the lack of feeling, but the statement that he was a better hunter than he'd ever been, well, I wonder if he's quite prepared to live with the lack of humanity.

I was with you though, shouting at the tv when the episode ended!! WFT!? They ended it there without explanation?? You gotta admit though, it makes for a great cliff-hanger, something they seem to be doing with this season. Overall, I found some parts of the episode flat and maybe it was for the reasons you said, the stereotyping. Dunno. But I loved the Bobby oversharing and Dean's reaction. Both were hilarious. Overall, I did enjoy it.

that makes a lot more sense, and I would be much happier with that resolution. Doesn't change the fact that I didn't get that from my first and second viewing of the ep (which could be completely my fault!) which made it a very uncomfortable scene to watch, especially since it was followed by a credit roll :S

heh yes, Bobby's was kinda cool. I loved how his was also about not following strict gender roles, but he was totally okay with it. Although, of course, the idea is that the person who asked for the truth (Dean) will get slammed with the truth until they kill themselves, so I don't know what that means... And, I'm really glad they ended the Bobby conversation where they did. I would not have been happy if that had turned into a transphobic comment about his first girlfriend.

Overall, ups and downs in this ep!

I know!!! I haven't seen any spoilers or "coming soon..." clips, so I don't know. Guess I'll just have to wait the old fashioned way ;)

exactly. I mean, I know that that could be very difficult to hear, but there's no reason that would be ALL of it, and especially all of it coming from men. The final comment from the sister was by far the most serious one, though, and I get how that would push someone over the edge, especially if there's a long history of that. But I would have found it much uh, juicier, if there were stories of betrayal and cheating, rather than just "you're a 3." Seriously. There are people in this world that are not attractive by society's standards. Should they all just kill themselves? /rant

yeah that soul thing makes sense, I just needed to think it through. I felt so sorry for Dean! First he didn't trust Sam, then he thought he'd gotten the truth from him, but then turns out that that was a lie. Poor D:ean. But I also want to see stuff from Sam!!!
