(no subject)
This will be brief, since it's late and I had to come downstairs to get the wireless (no internet in the room is pretty weak, guys) and I want to get back up to my phone and bed.
First day of VanCon woop woop!
Yesterday my roommates and I drove around and did some location scouting. We went to the place where they shot a lot of Changing Channels, and of course we had to fall down on the grass, Sam and Dean style. We also found the place where they did the CSI portion of the show, and then into the village where they shot Monster Movie and more. It was pretty neat! Deer Lake Park is soooo pretty.
Anyway! After really tasty waffle brunch it was time for Katherine Boecher. I can't say I was particularly looking forward to it, because while I think she did a fine job with Lilith I am not particularly invested in her as a character/celebrity, but it was good! She is super cute, and funny, and energetic. Definitely a fan now.
Matt Cohen is adorable, as well. He totally fanboys JDM (he wants to smell like him, guys) and said that no matter how geeky/crazy we fans are, we got nothing on him. Hmmmm not sure about that... but I definitely approved.
Aldis Hodge is unnnff, that voice. Here, again, not particularly invested, never seen Leverage, but I am a faaan.
Richard Speight Jr? HILARIOUS. The guy has such a presence! He did a Jensen impression that sounded remarkably like Elvis, and goofed around a lot. I actually saw more of him than any of the others, as morganoconner is his biggest fan, as he yelled out over the entire audience, haha. It was awesome. He is awesome.
Autographs took a loooooooong time, as I'm in the last silver row. Think next time I'll go out for dinner and then come back. But I now have autographs from Richard, Katherine, and Matt Cohen.
The Jason Manns concert was pretty cool! I've never really listened to his music, but I enjoyed myself. The first song, however, wasn't performed by him! But Fredric Lehne and Richard Speight! They were the Duo Diablos or something, and performed Sympathy for the Devil. It was pretty epic. Unfortunately someone felt ill during the concert so the paramedics showed up and everything. I hope that person is okay, whoever you are! But this meant that things got a bit behind schedule. Well, not that they weren't already.
Then there was the karaoke party and heh, I had fun. It was hilarious. Various girls went up on stage singing various songs (Eye of the Tiger, Don't stop Belivin', Love Shack...) and the four guests (Richard, Katherine, Matt and Aldis) interacted to varying degrees. Matt Cohen is such a dork. Richard clearly loves performing and made many hilarious comments. Aldis and Katherine made an awesome dance duo, and Richard sometimes joined in - Matt tried at first but gave up pretty quick. I have lots of pictures but THE IDIOT ME left the chord at home that connects the camera to the computer so... not sure what I'll be doing. I'm already pretty close to filling my memory card and it's only the first day...
(Right now Richard, Jason and Katherine just walked past me in the lobby. Heh.)
ANYWAY. Am having a great time. I do feel a little silly doing the whole celebrity chasing thing - just because I like the show and the characters doesn't mean I need to lick the actors. But I've decided just to go for it and enjoying it while I'm here. Still, not going to run up to them and ask to hug them in the lobby. Which someone may or may not have done, just now. *cough*
So! Tomorrow is Fredric Lehne, Rob Benedict, and MISHA COLLINS. And probably something else I'm forgetting right now. I have a Misha photo op, which came with the ticket I got, so that should be entertaining. And, I may have caved and bought a Jard photo op. I thought they were all sold out! So I didn't even think about it. But, apparently they opened up more, so I'll get to meet him in person. I do feel weird about this - I read RPS about the dude, for chrissakes, and so far I've been perfectly happy imagining that it's really just a fictional character that may or may not exist in some alternate dimension. But, this is a once in a life time opportunity, so I'm just going for it! I can think about it later. Or something.
