"Epitomy of Solidarity"
Chapter 1
-
High heels clicked faintly on the black stone floor with the soft jingle of the fine chains with each fluid step. Several people with silver hair and cerulean blue eyes with a touch of green dressed almost completely in black glanced at who strode down the halls without so much as a hurrying step, and then quickly glanced away at the sight of the band around the left bicep, hurrying to their destinations as to not be in the way of where those high heels were surely going.
Turning down a short hall, the high heels approached a pair of large doors flanked by guards armed with staves, Velvet Nightmare gunblades and a sword and the guards opened the doors without a word. On the other side of those doors was Sephiroth half lounging on the black throne he was usually occupying on a raised platform with two shadow creepers laying on floor beside the chair, one on either side. Looking at the opening doors, Sephiroth smirked as he took in the appearance of the new arrival to the throne room that made his previous visitors hurry out with a mere dismissive wave from Sephiroth himself. The high heels came forward and went to a knee just a couple feet from the bottom stair before rising to stand up straight again.
Barely any older than 17 or 18 years old, the young woman before him was as stunning as their kind came and was one of Sephiroth’s “crown jewels” when it came to his people. She was about 5-foot-5 and was slender with a svelte body that testified to how well her body had taken to her treatments in the past and how well she had progressed since the day he acquired her. She wore a short black leather dress that had two zippers from her waist to the skirt hem, the skirt hem unzipped part way up, showing off the shorter black shorts she wore underneath. The zipper at her collar was only a few inches long and was unzipped two-thirds of the way down, revealing the black top underneath. The shoulder straps were thick and were buckled to the top of her dress.
Her black boots went up to her knees with stiletto heels, a slight platform and zippered to the top with a couple straps to keep them zipped tight. Her black thigh high socks stopped just a hand’s width above her knees. A belt around her hips looked like it was actually two belts but the metal junction at the back and the buckle testified to it being a single item. The silver studs down the length of each strap were a nice touch, like her long black nails and her fingerless gloves with their silver knuckles and zippers down the back that were buckled like her boots at the middle of her forearms.
She wore a black choker around her throat bearing a long bar as a charm and seemingly matching bars of three different lengths from her ear lobes with three matching cuff earrings in each upper ear. Her silver hair reached her waist and half was pulled up into an elegant bundle of twists, pinned into place with black pins and hair hooks, her long bangs half hiding the right side of her face but leaving a pair of braids that went past her skirt hem by a couple inches on the left with three black beads on the ends. Her cerulean blue eyes had that familiar ring of green around her slit pupil and were lined with black to give them a more feline-esque curve to them. Her lips bore the only real color, a deep shimmery rose colored gloss that made them stand out like her Carribean colored eyes.
The black band around her left bicep bore a tribal symbol in silver, declaring her station that her outfit had left very little room for. The symbol was no doubt on her back, beneath her hair, but in a darker black leather as to not make her a better target at a distance. That symbol and the color was reserved for only those who had proved themselves exceptionally valuable to both Sephiroth and to the Black City. There were very few who were permitted to wear either and she was possibly the only woman amid that premiere number.
She glanced behind herself, looking just over her right shoulder before looking forward and giving her full attention to Sephiroth. “You sent for me, Sephiroth?”
“You came rather quickly. Were you closer than I had presumed?” Sephiroth inquired with a soft smirk as he leaned his head against his hand. “Or did you rush to get here?”
“Does it pertain to the matter or are you merely curious?” She asked in return.
“Merely curious.” Sephiroth answered honestly.
She smiled softly at the response, brushing her bangs out of her eyes enough for Sephiroth to see them both. “I was watching how the new soldiers were doing from the station’s office balcony. They seem to be more proficient now that their treatments are finally completed. Will you be marking them dark blue or dark red this time around?”
“Depends on where their skills lie.” Sephiroth responded, watching her every minute gesture and movement. “You know that. If they are merely soldiers, they will be dark blue. If they are up to the standards the two of you have set, then they will be members of the Specialists and marked with dark red. I am proud of how the pair of you were able to make such progress and how well organized you’ve made us. Before too long, we should be able to bring all those with Geostigma here in order to treat them all and increase our numbers.”
“Is that for their well being or for your desire to prove those with Jenova cells are superior to all others?” She asked a bit unhappily. She never did like it when he spoke as he just had, like their people were just things.
“You are the one who showed me the value in all life, even if you allow me to hold the lives of Remnants above the others in this world.” Sephiroth lifted his head off his hand and rose to his feet, descending the stairs to approach her. She stayed perfectly still as he came closer. “I value the lives of all our people and if I can increase our numbers to prove that we deserve the right to live, then I will do so without hesitation.”
He slid his hand beneath her hair and lifted a section of it to his lips, breathing in the delicate scent of her shampoo and of her person. It wasn’t just how well she had taken to her treatments that drew him to her and her skills were all icing on the proverbial cake. He had been attracted to her from the moment he had first felt her presence in this world. It was a pity that he needed her more as a Premiere than as what he desired for her to be.
“Imagine it-a world where Remnants are not hated or a minority, confined within the walls of a single city. We will soon have that world brought into reality.” Sephiroth murmured to her, getting her to look at him over her shoulder. “And when that day comes, I will not need you to merely be one of my Premieres. I would have you at my side now if I didn’t need you to lead the Premieres, you who are the most complete and closest to Jenova.”
“If you keep that kind of talk up, Sephiroth, you’re going to make quite a few of my fellow female Remnants so very jealous of me. It’s hard enough when they want to be like me. I’m not sure I can manage what they’d do to be me.” She responded softly as Sephiroth pressed his lips to the section of her hair draped in his hand. “You are Jenova’s Chosen One, the only Complete among us. The rest of us-we’re just Remnants but we’re not like Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo. The Reunion with Jenova may not even work with any of us. We’re not pure Remnants.”
Sephiroth firmly gripped her hair and pulled it like it was reins, getting her to turn to face him with a slight stumble to catch herself. He gripped her chin with his other hand, pulling her closer to him.
“It doesn’t matter if the Reunion will work or not. It does not matter if you’re like those three.” He told her firmly. “You are perfect the way you are. You may have became a Remnant because of the treatments but you are the most complete out of all the other women. If either of you were to perform the Reunion, you’d surely become Jenova and he’d become me. I won’t allow either of you to even attempt the Reunion-not when he commands them and you command the Premieres. I will not lose you to the Reunion. If you became Jenova, then yes, we would have Mother as our living deity but then I would lose my future queen. No one else could take that place-only you. Do I make myself clear?”
“You’re wrong.” She said suddenly, surprising Sephiroth.
“And how am I wrong in that?” He asked a bit icily.
“I don’t lead the Premieres. You put me in charge of certain operations but I don’t lead them and they know that.” She replied, making him relax his hold on her chin and her hair. “We follow your every word, Sephiroth. We’re Remnants; we’re compelled to obey the only Complete and that’s you. We’re like the Turks of ShinRa-you turn to us to get other jobs done.”
“Forgive me, my dear. I overlooked that.” Sephiroth apologized, lowering his hand from her chin. The ends of his fingers trailed down her body to her waist, making her look down at them out of curiosity.
Sephiroth took advantage of the distraction and wove his other hand into her hair before catching her around the waist and pulling her sharply against his taller frame. That sudden movement that half jerked, half swept her off her feet startled her enough to make her look at Sephiroth, giving him what he wanted: her lips. He kissed her deeply, feeling her warmth through his own clothes. Her hands were on his chest and bicep from the sudden movement and were all that were keeping him from pressing them too close, though he pressed her closer to his body when her hands tightened a little where they rested.
She never fought him when he kissed her after the first kiss he had stolen when she was only a few treatments away from the completion of her regiment. He had made it hard for her to refuse him that much when he knew better than to try anything more. He knew he needed her where she currently was but it wasn’t like he couldn’t simply just order her to be his queen, since she would have to say “yes” because of that previously reminded connection. It was like him asking her to sleep in his bed but do nothing else, as if she were just a doll-it wasn’t something worth getting frustrated over when she too felt the same draw he did…he just wasn’t the only one she felt it for but he was the stronger draw of the others.
He pulled back a few hairs so they could catch their breath, her gloss only finely transferring to his lips. He kept her held against his body, not wanting to let her go just yet. He didn’t want to pull away and feel that absence but he had no choice, not if he wanted to correct his little faux pas.
“I have a surprise for you.” Sephiroth told her, setting her back on her feet completely. He kissed her forehead, his right hand sliding to her left bicep. His fingers curled under the cuff and he ripped it off her arm, jerking it from her arm. She looked at him utterly flabbergasted, her hand clamping on her bicep as he walked backwards and held up the cuff. “You don’t need this anymore.”
She just watched as he walked back up to the throne, tossed the band on the seat and picked up a box that had been overlooked sitting on the arm. He came back down the steps and walked up to her. He lifted the lid and then lowered her hand from her arm.
“I am afraid I got ahead of myself a few moments ago.” Sephiroth replied, taking something out of the box. He held up a lovely silver arm band that was the three overlapping inclines and their intertwining rings, a perfect diamond cut into the shape of a diamond nestled in the top incline. He slid it over her hand and up her arm, the cold metal raising gooseflesh as Sephiroth pushed it up to her bicep. He made sure it was snug in place before he caressed it with a couple fingers.
“There, the mark of the leader of the Premieres, the position you rightly deserve.” Sephiroth murmured, getting her to look at her new arm band and then up at him. “It fits perfectly, doesn’t it? I made sure it was made to your measurements. You’re no longer just a Premiere. You are now their leader and if any of them have a problem with it, they can take it up with me.”
“Surely there is someone more qualified than I am, Sephiroth.” She tried to counter.
Sephiroth gave her a minorly annoyed look. “There is none more experienced that you and if you keep that up, I’m not going to be very happy with you. Do enjoy your new rank. You’ll have a far more impressive reach now and it will come in handy, should you need to flex a bit of political muscle.”
She sighed softly. “If this is what you want, Sephiroth, then I’ll be your lead Premiere.”
“Good girl.” Sephiroth gently tilted her chin upward with the tip of his finger, getting her bright cerulean eyes to look at him. “I think like you do, remember? I wouldn’t have you in this position if I didn’t know that you were the best I had. Now, go do me a favor and check on our leads Specialist and Guard, if you would. We must keep them in the know and all three of you in communication, do we not?”
“As you command, Sephiroth.” She stepped back from him and bowed respectfully to the long haired man. She straightened up, turning gracefully as she strode towards the doors, the doors opening without so much as a signal to the guards on the other side.
Sephiroth returned to his throne and set the box on the arm of his chair. Picking up the cuff he had tossed on the seat, the Complete SOLDIER artfully dropped into his throne, lounging like he had been before she had arrived. He brought the cuff to his lips, taking a deep breath, breathing in her scent with a soft smile on his lips.
“One day, my dear, you will be the envy of all the world and that day will see you at my side as my queen.”
