( The bad )

Some of you, I've already talked to about this, but PayPal was being a complete bitch because they would NOT return the $210 that I had tried to put in there in the beginning. I know they could do it, but they JUST DON'T WANT TO. Fucking bastards. I really wanted to shoot people Thursday night. So yesterday, Jei and I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Max, and they were all failures. After work yesterday, he and I went to Best Buy and saw this computer for $599.99. I couldn't get it because I was short $15. Fucking sales tax (8.75%) and the recycling fee b/s. GAH! Yeah, I was ready to give all this shit up because it was driving me up the wall.

So Jei decided that we go to Fry's and check to see what they've got in terms of laptops. Remember the night that satrugha got her HP laptop and paid over $900 for it? That night, there weren't that many selections for laptops. Last night, they suddenly got a whole bunch out. I was like... o_O W(hy)TF didn't they have all of this out the other night? So I was looking around and Jei found this price tag for an HP lappy that was going for $499. It had nice specs to it: 80 GB HD, I believe it came with Intel Core Solo or the AMD equivalent, and it had a nice video card. So when Jei inquired about it and got a computer rep, I found a big ass Fujitsu laptop that went for $549. I was like... O_O wow. The display didn't have an OS but Fujitsu... It got me really interested. So I told them I wanted it.

That was a no-go. They couldn't find: 1) the battery, 2) the recovery disc(s) to it. WTF. So they bring out yet another lappy for me to look at for $499 which was an HP. It wasn't exactly the same as the one Jei had seen on the tag but it was close. The thing looked like it was never touched and they told us that they had another one just like that so we ask the sales guy to bring out the other one. But noooo. They bring out a Sony Vaio for $569 since Jei was looking, too.

And since Jei was, you know, hesitant (as always), I was going to take it because I could afford it. Now, the sales guy also told us there were two of these Sony Vaio's so we told him to go get the other one. But was that true? NOOOOO~! He brings out yet another Sony Vaio that had a price tag of $664 but the sales guy told us that he'd sell it for $649. The major difference was how it looked, and the more expensive one had a better processor. The first one had an Intel Centrino, and the other had Intel Core Solo. Everything else seemed to be the same.

Now... don't Sony's (even the obsolete ones) run for over $1000? Yeaaaaaahhhh.... So they were both pretty much a steal, and if Jei had waited (like what he always likes to do with everything), he wouldn't have gotten it. And he knew that, so he got it. He'd better have because he's been wanting to buy another one so this doesn't count as impulse-shopping.

So after going through all the retarded bullshit with PayPal and the retarded nonsense with BestBuy, Circuit City, and Office Max, I ended up with this lappy from Fry's:

Sony Vaio FS 980
1.73 GHz Intel Centrino processor
15.4" shiny screen, 1280x800 max screen resolution
80 GB Ultra ATA HD
1GB DDR RAM
Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900, 128 MB shared
Windows XP Home Edition SP2
Find the rest here
Radio Shack retail: $899.99

In short, I'm glad I got good karma for once. So sometimes, it's worth going through all the bad shit because you somehow get rewarded for it every now and then, at least in my case, anyway. Thank god I'm no longer laptop-less. Now I just have the fun of transferring shit from the Toshiba laptop to this Sony one.

Oh yes, and this baby's name is Ike, and the HD name is Gatrie. Aren't I so creative? NOT!

And one last thing. Windows Vista is the bane of my existence in the computer universe. Why does it take OVER 30 SECONDS TO LOAD THE SYSTEM INFORMATION ON A 1GB INTEL CORE DUO PROCESSOR WITH A 1GB DDR RAM?!

Microsoft, you have failed me with Vista, so I will stick to my XP plzdiekthnx.
