Saturday of AWESOME

So, today was a rather LONG day. Actually the most productive I've had in a while. Went out with my friends to LA to go see a friend from high school. Did several things while I was out and about...

-Saw Sweeney Todd. I'm a fan of musicals, and as such, I'm REALLY kicking myself for not having seen 'Across the Universe' while I had the chance. Tim Burton's influence is easily felt throughout the flick, but it was still a fantastic movie, I loved it. Dark as all hell, but DAMN was it fun to watch. Also bought the soundtrack, and as such that fills my requisite single CD purchase for the year.

-Bought a few books. New Pratchett novel that I've been meaning to buy, but I was too cheap to shell out for the hardcover. Monstrous Regime looks to be a great read, as is all of Terry Pratchett's work. Bought Wicked, since I'm a sucker for origin stories, especially ones that have such wit and charm as this. I've been meaning to read up on the Wicked hype, and this seems as good a place as any to start... Also, bought America: The Book for 5 smackers, and quite frankly, it's the best purchase I've made in a while. Not ONLY is it an awesome book written by Jon Stewart, BUT it was also the hardcover edition. So if you're reading this and you don't have the book, stop what you're doing, get in your car, and drive your lazy asses over to Borders.

I wanted to buy Obama's new book as well, but I didn't exactly have 28 bucks to spend...

-Went to Curry House, one of the restaurants down in Little Tokyo by Kinokuniya Books. Awesome, AWESOME food there, and I love it to death.

-Watched a bit of Zero Punctuation before heading out from my friends, and laughs were had by all.

All in all, I'm glad I took the day off of work. This is the kind of fresh start to the year that I needed. One thing that I'm really happy about with myself is that actually have a social life, as opposed to some. It's a fantastic thing, really is.

This is an indicator of an awesome year. :)

little tokyo, zero punctuation, sweeney
