Epic GAINAX
So, I was bored yesterday so I went to YouTube and typed in "Takami Akai".
In case you don't know, Takami Akai was one of the founders of GAINAX before he unfortunately resigned in... I think 2007? due to some douchebags on 2channel trolling Gurren Lagann and this whole controversial stuff that happened. ANYWAY. The man's a genius.
I found an old animation done by "the animators who would become GAINAX". That is, this was before they made GAINAX. It features an adorable girl designed by Takami Akai... and that's just the beginning.
DAICON III is good, but DAICON IV just blows everything away. DAICON IV has a very iconic animation character that is spoofed in FLCL and other animes and mangas. With ELO's "Twilight" as the music, it's just... epic.
So please, give it a try. It's good, old fashioned hand-drawn GAINAX animation done by the masters before they became what they are/were today.
