First off, aww, thanks!! I'm super new to this fandom, so people liking my writing makes me squee!

And to answer your question, yep. I put things behind cuts just in case there are people who don't like certain pairings/characters/whatevers, because that way they don't have to read it. And yeah, actually, I got literally yelled at in a comment once for not putting something behind cuts, and avoided posting anywhere but my other fic journal for a year. >.<

However, I do it all the time now, but DID only start doing this recently, since LJ Strikethrough last year, both to protect my own ass in case someone under an age of consent read something they might not have wanted to and freaked out, and so LJ can't ream me out for not putting something inappropriate for minors under a cut.

Did that make sense at all?

I'm sorry you got upset! There was probably no reason for a comment to be posted like that. It aggravates me a little when people do that. And I'm sorry you deleted it, too--sometimes LJ blows. *hugs*

Did that help at all?

And I look forward to seeing yours, too! When you re-post it (or if, depending on how you feel about posting it), would you let me know so I can read it?

the cuts didnt work

Well, that's LAME.

Hm...you could always do a link back to your journal, which would look like this, only without the asteriks:

<*a href="URL GOES HERE"> Text that says HEY CLICK ME FOR STORY (or something) goes here! <*/a>

And if that doesn't work, then maybe try the LJ cut again? Lj-cuts and link-backs are the only two ways I know of to put something (effectively) behind a cut.

Hope that works/helps!
