Safety wasn’t the knife under his pillow. Or the amulet around his neck.
Safety wasn’t the salt lining all entry points to the hotel room.
Safety was the soft snores coming from the other bed. The knowledge that Sam was here with him, safe. Safe from monsters, safe from the past. Quietly sleeping in the other bed.
Safety was having his family with him. To love and protect. Because nothing would ever happen to Sam with Dean close to him. Nothing.
