Day one of finals is over! I was smart - I had the research paper as a final, so I didn't even have to have my kids in class as long as their paper was in. Those who did show up watched the rest of To Kill a Mockingbird. So I spent the morning supervising the hallways, and cleaning out all my piles of paper. My God, I have so much sorting and cleaning to do! Too many papers.....
Yesterday I filled out paperwork for my new apartment. They will run a background check on me, I will pay the security deposit, and then I'l have my very first apartment of my own! (Not arranged for me by a parent, fiance, college or volunteer org). This is a fabulous little apartment. In a vintage 1920s building in Shorewood (NE Milwaukee), 5 blocks from the lake, right next to the bus stop that will take me straight to Messmer every morning for work, two blocks from the public library, a few blocks from coffee shops, groceries, blockbuster, you get the idea. And tons of parks!
The apartment itself - 4th floor, corner, so I get double the windows, 2 of which face the lake and get nice breezes. It's a 3 room studio with nicely kept hardwood floors. 2 walk-in closets. A small dining room. A recently remodeled kitchen with a gas stove. Bathroom. And all utilities included in the rent. I am very happy with what I've found.
Okay, time for lunch, then back to sorting my junk and grading research papers (I'll have 110 of them by Friday!!!!!!)
