The Olympics have been such a God-send. My time during the evening to unwind and forget I have stacks of work to do. Of course, the minute 11 pm hits and I turn off the TV, I return to the stacks of lesson plans, letters to parents, syllabi, etc, as well as the realization I have to get up at 5:30 every morning. Sigh. Hey, this year will be fun, I'm just not adjusted yet.
Funny thing: our TV is so messed up (the lady who the friars got it from dropped it immediately after buying it...) that we have to place a magnet on the side to keep the color from going wacky, and we also get a radio station through the attenna. So while cheering on Morgan and Paul Hamm and Aleksi Nemov last night, we were also getting some rambunctious music that doesn't quite go with high bar. :)
And I want to give Paul a hug and tell him to ignore the boos, it's for the judges, not him. Speaking of the Hamms, they live only a 20 minute drive from my house, and my housemates are in love with the Hamms. We've decided Annie gets Morgan, and Sara gets Paul. :)
Looking forward to this weekend. I'll be "home" in Appleton, visiting Mark and going to a wedding. Mark and I will also begin looking at engagement rings, but I'm not telling Mom yet or she'll get excited for something that's a ways off yet.
And Amelia Adams is getting married in November to her Scottish intellectual!!!! I've been invited, but it's in Lake Tahoe, and where am I going to get the money to fly there?!
Okay, must get back to writing a letter to my students' parents...
