This has been a real learning experience; I'm not sure if I'll attempt to sew an ATC on a machine again any time soon. It just looks so bad! Other fiber folk use sergers but I don't want to invest the money, and my little Brother machine doesn't like the layers of fabric, batting and interfacing. The next trade is "Cover Fabio" paperback book covers....hmm.
Red Indian cotton [Akasha] on the background, and black silk [women] for the body. The shape is bound in Kendall's translation of Erik's poetry. Each postcard represents part of Erik's work. The ATCs were cut from their postcards. The bindings are either bronze taffeta , toile, or a skater print. The trade partners will be announced tomorrow, and they'll be mailed by this weekend. I tell you though, I hope I don't get Elvis...

Last night I cast on a lovely lavender acrylic yarn with bronze highlights, that I got from the Piedmont Fiber Guild Recycle Trade for the "Fuck Corporate America!" Challenge. The challenge is to make an "outfit" from the skin out: underwear, shoes, socks, etc. I also scored about 4 yards of 60" wool fabric, which has a lavender thread running through it. The pattern is very 1980s cororate America, so I thought it'd make a lovely suit ;D Seriously, though, I need a "winter-in-the-piedmont" coat, and this might be enough to get me through a mild winter as a lined coat-length jacket. Something like this, perhaps...
