Swaps!

Oct 17, 2006 00:14

In an effort to enjoy myself and learn a little something...HA!....I've committed myself to not one but two swaps this winter, one dye study group, one spinning study group, two online CherryHill Seminary lectures, and I seriously contemplating taking an HTML course to "fix" the guild webpage. This after completing LearnNC's Crossing Cultures course and while I'm in the midst of the Mint Museum's Woven World's course. Woven Worlds sent me back to beadweaving. So now I have about 8" of Native American style beadweaving waiting for additional beads, a Sock Monkey handspun hat, a cotswold hat, a Cherokee style clay pot (leather hard), 3# Romney fleece to process and spin, and I'm also considering the Estatic worship lecture.

Now I've committed to participating in a spinning swap during INVENTORY MONTH. I'm INSANE. There is absol-*******-lutely no doubt about it.

The interesting thing was that during a workroom chat, I felt completely alienated from the people I work with because I had *no* idea what they were talking about in reference to television shows. I mean, I do keep up with national news (such as American news goes) and international news (see previous note), but popular culture?! My summer highlight was catching The Importance of Being Ernest by SoulPepper. I mean I was feeling really left out, not knowing the big TV shows and all. When I tried to explain this to my co-workers, a dear man, he turned to me and said; "Well of course you don't know what we're talking about--you have a life!"

Anyhow, one of the requirements of the Interweave Swap is a blog, so here is another sporatic entry in the old blog :D

Hugs to Karen, Elsbeth, Donna, Cel and all of you floating out there in cyberspace.
