I don't know if I have ever done a meme before.
It is a Harry Potter meme.
Day 1: Your fave book.
This is difficult. It's probably Half-Blood Prince. Like Dei. Who I stole this from. The whole thing was on the verge of spilling out of Hogwarts and into the rest of the world, which made the whole thing absurdly tense. There was a lot of delving into characters, which I like. It's always nice to see the characters grow in a series of book that has been growing up with it's reader base. I read back over the whole series recently, and was amazed at how kiddy the first one or two were. I didn't realise, I just didn't. JK Rowling, I applaud you. I think most significant for me was the development of Severus Snape. This isn't just because I now equate him to Alan Rickman.
Let's just take a moment here to think about Alan Rickman.
Mm.
Severus Snape as an anti-hero starts to dissolve here, as the reader becomes sympathetic. James Potter and the Marauders turn out to be dickwads kinda. Maybe not Lupin. Still. Snape is the poor, pressured little bright Slytherin. With a foul mouth.
The end, of course, shocked me when I first read it. I managed to avoid the spoiler campaign (I wasn't so lucky with the Deathly Hallows) so I didn't know what was going to happen. I. I just. Agh.
My abnormally long meme rant is over now. This is why I don't do memes about things I love.
