I fell a little short, but came closer than I expected to when I started last January. I blame crochet. Now if I could just figure out how to crochet and read at the same time...

My Favorites

The Prestige I read this because the movie didn't make any sense to me and I hoped the book would clear it up. Boy did it. It is one of the best books I've ever read. Why they changed the story for the movie I'll never understand. Where the movie never really made sense, the book was beautiful and haunting.
Children of Men Another one I read after seeing the movie, but this time because I enjoyed the movie so much. I really loved the book, also. This was a case of changing the story significantly for the movie, but I really loved both versions. I don't think American audiences would have liked the movie to end the way the book did.
The Stolen Child This story of changlings was a beautiful story of two boys who were struggling to figure out who they were.

Mind Fuck The first online fiction I printed in it's entirety to read has now been published in book form. Toreth is a Para-Investigator (sort of a detective/torturer) and Warrick is a corporate in a dark distopia called The Administration. There is murder and sex and fantastic virtual reality machines. You just need to read it!
A Strong and Sudden Thaw A future world in a new ice age, two young men struggle to survive in a world populated by dragons, an uncaring government, and laws that make homosexuality a capital offence.

Honorable Mention:
Moon Called If you like the early Anita Blake books, this book is perfect! Werewolves and vampires and witches, along with pack politics and murder. It was just a fun read.
Biggest disappointment:

Dexter In The Dark I loved the other 2 Dexter books. I love the Showtime series. I was looking forward to this book for months before it came out, so I was really disappointed by the new direction it took the story. Don't get me wrong - I love supernatural stuff (just look at my list of favorites), But you don't change the genre in the third book of a series!
I'll post soon about the year in crochet, but that will take some time to get together. Hope everyone is having a great new year!
