DC!

Well, today we were supposed to go to DC and see the Lego exhibit and the Da Vinci exhibit.

We made it to DC. (With an exciting stop along the way to explain to a MD state trooper what letterboxing was. He thought we might be terrorists. Or weirdos. Or something. Admittedly, the letterbox was on the side of the highway.)

The red line on the metro was undergoing "scheduled maintenance" and we "experienced delays". However, so did everyone we were meeting, so it was ok. We managed a group total of 9, which is a pretty good turnout!

The Lego exhibit had sold out.

But we checked out the building museum anyway and took the cool stuff about the building tour. It's made of brick. Even the columns. And there are papers and stuff hidden in some of the columns - like a time capsule.

Then we decided food was called for and strolled to Clydes of Gallery Place - where they happily accepted our group. We didn't even need to use the looking good excuse. Delicious!

Then we walked to the National Geographic museum for the Da Vinci stuff. And arrived just as they were locking the doors.

So we went to the Caribou Coffee next door.

Then we proceeded to the National Zoo because we discovered that their grounds are open till 8. Many of the animals were already inside but we did see a cheetah and gazelle and some birds and the red pandas.

So we failed to see either of the things we went for, but we had a grand time strolling around and chatting and looking snazzy and eating. All in all, a good day anyway.

Catherine cat is soo excited that we're home that she's exploding.
