I thought I should make a post on a good day.
Slept in til nearly 8 (thank you L). Discovered L finds it hilarious but disturbing when J wrinkles his nose (He hides behind me, but peers out and giggles then hides again). L also can't figure out how to do it himself, but tries, which was adorable. Took L down to the grocery store (I'm lucky, my baby enjoys the grocery store) while J showered. Just pushed the stroller down and bought a few things and pushed him back. Mainly just to get out. Saw an acquaintance out walking her dogs--L was excited until one of them sniffed him. Too much, too big.
Came home, ate lunch (getting leftover containers out of the fridge. Yay! Before any of them went bad. Double yay!) Did something or another then L went down for a long nap. Yay! Long naps! Jon and I spent some couple time (ie, not cleaning or discussing kid) and then did something useful...which I forget and wasn't much before L woke up.
Off to pick up a bridesmaid dress. The greeter was busy so for the first time ever I went in that store and didn't get my teeth set on edge. The staff are all great from my experience..just the greeters (yes, multiple at this point), always rub me the wrong way. It's very odd. Failed at picking up supporting garments to make it fit better, but have plenty of time. Took back a piece of clothing for L that will be too small by the time he wears it (but the hat that matched the sweater is adorable, but I think to use it this summer I'm going to have to put a chin strap on it).
Got grocery shopping done, had just enough time to stop at Jane Addams and pick up books they didn't want and drop off more books for them to evaluate (Did I mention I have an ENTIRE shelf clear on the bookshelf in my room, and that all the books on it are books I'd actually want to read? It's an awesome feeling. Have I think 6 books I'm still debating then I'm done with that project). With L in the car and it being late, I couldn't browse, but I think I have enough store credit to take care of books this Christmas (yay for new owners not having store credit expire. It has resulted in my actually going in. While I still find their prices highish, it's easier to handle if I have the credit from books I took in, which are thus out of my house quickly.)
Home again home again and L and I hung out in the backyard while J cooked. That was much fun to watch him exploring. I don't know where the rock he was playing with went...I know it came inside. He could drop it and did all over the yard, but wasn't allowed to throw it. As soon as we have our maple checked out I'm going to summon the fence installers--then I can sit out and read while he wanders with the knowledge I have to keep an eye on him, but a few minutes won't result in him in the street with a bus. And he likes just poking around. We played peek-a-boo around the tree and spun the dragonfly yard ornament my in-laws gave me.
The grand ending to the day was him going down to sleep with little fuss. ALWAYS improves the day. :)
Nothing grand and glorious happened. But the day went by very pleasantly, my child is adorable and I just want to snuggle him (which is one thing he doesn't want to do, to my sadness, but he's still adorable), and my husband is sweet. It's good to remember these things and pleasant days. :)
And, since the upstairs of my house is clean I can play with my son and husband with slightly quieter housekeeper-guilt in my brain. The basement needs work, but the living area...yeah, I spent 20 minutes picking it up and it's nearly clean (please ignore the baby toys) again. :) I could get used to this.
I need a pleasant, calm day. I got one. Thank you.
