I was chosen to participate in a 25th anniversary gift to one of my manga creator heroes. I put together a one page long fan comic and sent it to California last week. I could only work on it during my lunch breaks so I wasn't sure if it'd be "up to snuff" as the saying goes. Luckily it arrived safely and the response, thus far, are favorable. Here's the note Micheal sent back to me.
Hello Sandra,
I just wanted to thank you and let you know that your wonderful color copy of your thank you to Stan arrived safely today.
Amy, from the dojo, suggested that I use a Itoya folder instead of a sketchbook. So I will not be gluing / paper cementing any originals in. I will just be placing them in the photo protectors.
I plan to create a website with everyones' thank you to Stan on it. Many fans have asked to see others' words/art. May I have your permission to post your thank you on it? Let me know.
Thanks so much again. Stan will love it.
Peace, maka
I was so happy I let out a very girlish squeal of joy (I am so glad no one was around to prove such a noise came out of me...)
Then I received this next letter from my teacher Mrs. Bellows.
Hi Sandra,
I am delighted that you will help with Dr. Vezzoli's and my interview on Wednesday. I think you will have fun doing it and the experience and exposure will be wonderful.
Just to confirm:
I will meet you at Borders in the cafe at 5:30 or shortly after. We are due in Windsor at 6:30, so we have plenty of time to get there. I can drop you off at your house after we are done, I would guess sometime close to 9:30.
Wear nice clothes, but not too fancy- you will be on camera, no white nor black (the cameras have a hard time registering extreme values).
If you would like, bring along 2-3 things you did in Expressiveness in the arts class. We will spend a few minutes talking about the class. Think about some comments you might want to make about your work. Mainly you'll be moving pictures onto easels, moving the guitar, etc.
This will be an interview on "Using Creative Arts for Wholeness". We'll be singing, reading poetry and showing art.
If you have any questions, contact me or contact Dr. Vezzoli.
See you Wednesday,
Barb
When I agreed to help with the interview, I thought I was just going to move the art around but no, I have to sing on Television?! God help me...
