Friday night was spent watching the movie Sideways with my mom. I’m trying to open her up to deeper more profound movies. However, she found it boring and a waste of time. She also hated the movies Garden State and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. She enjoys a very specific type of movie, the kind with lighthearted humor or involving Hugh Grant.
On Saturday night I watched Napoleon Dynamite with Mike. The movie was okay, I had higher expectations going into it, so it wasn’t quite as good as I imagined it. The deadpan exchanges used by Napoleon, Pedro and Deb were where I found the most humour. I loved the character of Pedro for his cake building skills and ‘sweet hook-ups’. I miss Tetherball.
Napoleon Dynamite: "You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills."
Apparently the studio is planning on re-releasing the movie:
“Due to the film's surprise success at festivals and at the major city box offices, Fox Searchlight is going to re-release the film with nationwide distribution and add a 5 minute epilogue at the end of the film. This epilogue, which was filmed after the initial theatrical run, apparently features a surprise "wedding scene". And cost about half of what the entire feature cost to make.”

In other news, I’m still waiting to hear from the job (that was originally promised to me) that I just quit another job for. Cluckers.
