“What the hell is it?” Eliot asked poking at the flat piece of technology that had cost several hundred dollars.

“Hey! Hey!” Hardison swooped in, lifting up his new toy. “This my friend, is the latest from Apple.”

“What's an ip pad?”

He looked at the other man with indignation. “The i,” he paused effect, “the iPad is the latest in touch technology.”

“Isn't it just a tablet? Didn't HP come up with one first?”

The hacker stared at him in shock. “How did you know that?”

“Dated a digital artist. She had one of them. Was real smart, too,” he added thoughtfully.

Hardison glowered. “But this is Apple.”

“You use the Dell thing on jobs!”

Hardison paused thoughtfully. “Those are for work. This is for play”

“I thought I was for play,” he said pushing the other man against the table.

“I'm taller than you,” he threatened.

Eliot laughed. “What are you gonna do with all that height, boy?”

Hardison paused, probably realizing that Eliot could easily bring him down. “Eliot, c'mon. I just want to see how it works.”

“You're turning down sex for a piece of plastic?”

“I can touch it!”

Eliot grumbled as Hardison brought his new toy into his computer room. “You can touch me, too, jackass.”

Hardison was stretched out on the sofa with a piano game this time. His fingers moved elegantly over the digital keys, and Eliot sat on the floor, sulking.

“Hey,” Hardison slid down onto the floor and wrapped his arms around Eliot's shoulders. “I'll show you.”

He kissed away the frown that was keeping Eliot's mouth turned down at the corners. When Eliot sighed with resignation, he held the iPad in front of them with his left hand and took Eliot's right hand in the other.

“It uses the heat and pressure from your fingertips to make the noise.”

Tentatively, Eliot pressed down with his middle finger and jumped slightly when the computer emitted a middle C. Like guiding a child, Hardison used his fingers to walk Eliot's fingers up and down the keys. After a few minutes of quiet attention, Eliot turned to the man straddling him.

“Is there a guitar game, too?”

“Hell, man. If you want one that bad, I'll design one for you.”
