And then my list got longer and longer and longer {g} And then I remembered that I'd never added an L&C section to my Fanfic Recommendations post, so I decided to just put it in my journal and send Cat a link ( Read more... )

I really was just kidding - teasing you because of your disclaimer. I never expect my stories to be on anyone's "favorite's" list.

I understand about liking stories you read initially better. I still have fond memories of the old AOL boards back when the show was on the air. I read stories that I still remember today - but I know I wouldn't look twice at them if someone posted them today because they were so OOC . . . but I didn't care back then. There was one that was like It's a Wonderful Life, and there is a scene where Clark and his son are walking down the steps to celebrate Christmas, and they are both wearing I think it was either a green suit or green ties, and I have had that image in my mind since then. But I don't think I would enjoy the story if I were to read it today. It was in script form, kind of poorly written, and way ooc. But, back then, I loved it because I was gobbling up anything LnC related.

I hope no one on your friends list takes offense to this, but I really do not like to read anything by FoLCs who speak British English. No matter how hard they try, a part of their speach patterns or vocabulary always makes it into the story. And it really jars me out of the story - even if it is just in narration. Lois and Clark are Americans. They do not speak or even think like someone who speaks British English.

I mean, I certainly would not try to write a character who spoke in a differet form of English than I do. It would just be too difficult to get it spot on and not jar the reader out of the situation. So that is why I do not read anything by Wendy, Yvonne, LabRat, et al any more, and haven't for several years. They might tell a good story, but, to me, relaism is just as important as an interesting story.
