Even if you don't like basketball, this is awesome.

I was at work on Saturday when this game was played, so I didn't witness it live. My dad did, though, because he is totes a BNF in the Davidson b-ball fandom (although technically the fandom is small enough that practically everyone who posts is a BNF, and they don't call it fandom anyway 'cause, you know, they're stupid boys.) He brought this to my attention.

The match is Davidson vs. Elon. At some point Davidson is down by 12 or thereabouts (again, I wasn't watching), but pull it up to send the game into overtime. Then the game goes into overtime again. In the last 15 seconds of that second overtime, Davidson is down by 3 and about to lose.

Then this happens:

In case you have no idea what just happened, here's the breakdown:

Davidson (in black jerseys) is down 3 with 15 seconds left.
Davidson (#5) attempts a 3-pointer. No go.
It bounces off the rim, goes into the corner, where four players fight over it.
Davidson finally grabs it (#12), throws it to McKillop (#1, aka Coach's son) who tosses it in for 3 points.
Game is tied with 3 seconds left on the clock.
Elon grabs the ball, goes out of bounds to throw it back in.
Rossiter (#23, aka THE ROSSITRON) intercepts, throws from behind the arc.
Buzzer sounds.
Ball goes swish!
Davidson wins by 3.
Epic team glomp ensues.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this because even if you aren't an alum, even if you weren't in the stadium at the Elite Eight game against Kansas where we lost with a buzzer beater that hit the backboard, even if you didn't invent the nickname "the Rossitron" and accost Stephen Curry after the game in order to disseminate it, even if you don't recognize McKillop and Rossiter from wandering around campus two years ago, this is still pretty nifty.

Additional fun fact: Matt Matheny was installed as Elon's head coach just 1 year ago, after serving as an assistant coach at Davidson for 16 years. I'm willing to bet he was a little emotionally confused Saturday night.

another video from a different angle, with audio from Davidson's own radio sportscaster, Kilgo:
