Why this year is better than last year

Depth...

That pretty much says it all. Last year we didn't have it, this year we do. With Amare Stoudemire and Brian Grant injured, two of our big men and of course Amare one of the best fowards in the league. Leandro Barbosa is also out for another couple of days.

Last Year's Bench production:
Leandro Barbosa 7.0ppg | 2.4 assists
Jim Jackson 8.8ppg | 3.9 rebounds | 2.4 assists
Steven Hunter 4.6ppg | 3 rebounds | 1.34 blocks
Walter McCarty 3.5ppg | 2.2 rebounds
Jake Voskuhl 2.1ppg | 2.4 rebounds

This Years Bench Production:
Leandro Barbosa 15.7ppg | 2.1 assists
James Jones 10.8ppg | 3.3 rebounds
Eddie House 8.7ppg | 1.1 rebounds
Pat Burke 4.7ppg | 1.8 rebounds
Jim Jackson 4.6ppg | 2.2 rebounds

This only includes the regular bench performers, not the currently injured like Amare Stoudemire and what Brian Grant was putting up. When Amare Stoudemire gets back our bench production will boost even more.

Last Years Bench: 28 points per game
This Years Bench: 44.5 points per game

And this is over the course of the season. Go over the past 7 games where the Suns are 7-0 after a 4-5 start, the bench numbers have grown to 50ish points per game.

The team has had to learn how to win without Amare Stoudemire... and thus far have succeeded with the past two wins going 112-94 and 130-85 and have held teams to under 100 points for 9 straight games where they are 8-1 losing only to the Spurs 97-91.

The emphasis this year is defense... with the offense as good as ever if not better, and only going to get better when Amare returns.

This year has exciting possibilities. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds!
